Chapter 98 The Boy
"Fuck… fuck… fuck… fuck… I can't stop crying," I sniffled, wiping the mucus dripping from my nose and wiping the salty liquid from my eyes.
I couldn't stop crying. I just couldn't stop fucking crying as I ran. I ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and ran and ran until I found myself at the edge of the campus where all of the dungeons for students to farm were.
I ran in and began to destroy slimes in the pitifully weak dungeon all the way until nothing was left. And even after I had eradicated at least a hundred slimes, I found myself still sniffling, but now no more tears were flowing from my eyes.
"Hey, are you good?" A voice tickled the back of my neck, and as I turned around, I noticed an older woman with green lipstick, black hair, and pitch-black eyes staring right at me.
"You're… a teacher here. The one who specializes in the scythe…."
I managed to just barely collect myself to the point where I could talk fine, but the redness around my eyes and mouth was apparent. It was clear she was here to check on me, worried as to why I was breaking down so much. But to be honest, if she asked me that question, I wouldn't even know how to reply since these weren't my feelings.
"Oh, well, I'm more than just a teacher who specializes in scythes…." The woman smiled, slowly approaching me as I gripped the two daggers in my hands harder. "It's okay… there is no need to have those things anymore. I know you're sad and angry, but hurting people won't do you any good. It might feel good for a second, but it won't the next."
"Thank you for the concern, but I don't need any," I muttered, slowly stepping away from the woman as she reached down, potentially trying to grab my daggers. Maybe she thought I was going to harm myself or somebody, and as I didn't want to have such an image placed on me, I slowly sat the daggers down. Yet, as soon as I attempted to release my fingers, I realized they just wouldn't relax. "I-I can't-"
The woman's hands gently grazed the back of mine, somehow relaxing my hands to the point where I couldn't feel them anymore. But at least now, I could lie back and fall down, sprawled across the ground with exhaustion.
My tantrum had lasted for quite some time, and it was apparent my body wasn't doing so well. My muscles immediately cramped up, and I felt everything in my body freeze. Every single function, whether it was through thought or autonomy, they just froze.
"You really don't remember me?" The teacher asked, sitting down next to me as I stared up at the rocky ceiling of this dungeon. "Okay, okay… well, you've been stirring up quite the noise in this dungeon. People thought you were going insane, so they went to call security, but I was nearby and decided to check it out… and who would have thought I'd find you."
"Sorry, but I don't know you," I muttered, finally glancing at the woman. And just for a split second, it looked as if a familiar face overlapped her face. They were almost identical with just a different hair color and hairstyle… and well, I guess her eye color as well, but those cat-shaped eyes and slick lips… they reminded me of somebody. "You're-"
"Yep, it's me… and I also work here."
"Then what you said before, was that a lie? About you realizing that my school was the base of the shadow temple? Are you part of the shadow temple?"
"Woah, woah, woah… take it easy. Your mind is running a million miles per hour right now. You just need to calm down for now, and then I'll explain everything later, okay? Just relax, breathe, and calm down… just slowly calm down…" Her fingers reached towards my hair, but before they could graze it, I slapped her hand away.
"Don't… touch me," I groaned, glancing at the hand which I slapped her away with, only to notice that my fingers were completely swollen and what seemed to be the joint connecting my thumb to the rest of my hand was dislocated.
"Do you seriously refuse to accept help? I could help ease your worries…." The teacher's silky voice infiltrated my ears, attempting to seduce my mind, but I quickly shut it out and continued to stare up at the rocky ceiling. I needed to regian my focus and control over my emotions as this was very unprofessional of me. "Come on, we're partners now. You can tell me just a bit… just enough to get your mind off of it for a second."
And just like that, I let out a long, stifling breath that it felt like I was holding in for eternity. It slowly escaped my lungs, running out narrowly from my mouth, but clearing out the deepest parts of my respiratory system of any negativity I had.
"No, I'm fine," I muttered, putting on a fake smile before barely managing to pick myself up and limp all the way to the exit. There was no need for me to rely on anybody else to solve this problem. It was just all in my own mind, and I needed to calm down, just like she said. I needed to get the reigns over my emotions back in my hands. "Fuck… I'm so worthless…" I lightly chuckled, covering my swollen eyes as I exited the dungeon and returned to my room.
…
"Hey, open your eyes," A young voice quickly caused me to snap my eyes open. I was huffing and puffing, unable to recognize where I was currently. I could barely even make out my surroundings due to how dark they were.
"Ugh… where… am I?" I muttered, reaching my right hand out towards my eyes to try and rub them, but from what I could tell through my blurry view, I saw a hand that wasn't mine… but was also mine. "This is… my previous body?" I groaned, coughing just a bit before finally rubbing my eyes.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
From head to toe, I was covered in scars, and what really made me cringe was the massive scar going across my mouth, preventing me from opening it too far. If I did, a pain so sharp would creep back into my skin and flesh, as if the blade was freshly tearing into the opening once again.
My entire body was wrapped from head to toe with bandages whilst the boy in front of me, who had ocean blue hair and empty blue eyes, only had an oversized sweatshirt on. I couldn't tell if he had pants, but just judging from the state of the sweatshirt, I doubt he could have afforded one.
Dirt was caked up on every part of his body, especially his mouth. It almost looked like he had been eating dirt in a desperate attempt to get something into his body. Any piece of nutrients that he could hopefully obtain from mother nature herself.
"Stop staring at me like we're strangers. You know who I am, and I know who you are, you fucking thief!" The boy screamed, wailing like a banshee as her sprinted toward me. But with ease, and with this old body of mine condensed with scarred tissue and muscles, I easily caught his weak punch.
My eyes glared down on the boy, hatefully, and with as much spite as I could muster. His eyes stared up at me with a hateful glare as well, his teeth clenched so hard with the anger I could audibly hear the grinding.
"You won't have molars anymore if you continue to do that… I wouldn't recommend it," I muttered coldly, with my deathly pale black pupils swirling like a whirlpool, attempting to consume the last bits of light in the boy's eyes. "I know what you want, but I don't give a flying fuck. You're not getting control over this body of mine, so how about you fuck off and leave this body to me. You were unable to keep it safe, so-" Experience new tales on empire
"THIS BODY IS ME! IT WASN'T JUST A VESSEL FOR MY SOUL, BUT IT WAS ME! IT WAS ME! FUCKING ME!" The boy shouted, pounding effortlessly against me with his free hand, causing my eyes to grow darker and darker by the second. "BECAUSE OF YOU, I CAN'T LEAVE! YOU WANT ME TO LEAVE?! I ALSO WANT TO LEAVE! BUT YOU WON'T LET ME GO! SO FUCKING LET ME GO, YOU SCARRED BAG OF SHIT!"
"What the hell are you talking about…?" I muttered, ready to smash this kid's head to into a pulp, but all of a sudden, his anger folded inward, causing his lips to quiver and his eyes to blink viciously.
The boy cried. And so I stopped myself just before I smashed his head to a pulp. And I just stood there, watching the boy cry and cry and cry and cry and cry.
"This is why you died."
