Warlock of Oceans: My Poseidon System

Chapter 99 The Man

"You won't have molars anymore if you continue to do that… I wouldn't recommend it," I muttered coldly, with my deathly pale black pupils swirling like a whirlpool, attempting to consume the last bits of light in the boy's eyes. "I know what you want, but I don't give a flying fuck. You're not getting control over this body of mine, so how about you fuck off and leave this body to me. You were unable to keep it safe, so-"

"THIS BODY IS ME! IT WASN'T JUST A VESSEL FOR MY SOUL, BUT IT WAS ME! IT WAS ME! FUCKING ME!" The boy shouted, pounding effortlessly against me with his free hand, causing my eyes to grow darker and darker by the second. "BECAUSE OF YOU, I CAN'T LEAVE! YOU WANT ME TO LEAVE?! I ALSO WANT TO LEAVE! BUT YOU WON'T LET ME GO! SO FUCKING LET ME GO, YOU SCARRED BAG OF SHIT!"

"What the hell are you talking about…?" I muttered, ready to smash this kid's head to into a pulp, but all of a sudden, his anger folded inward, causing his lips to quiver and his eyes to blink viciously.

The boy cried. And so I stopped myself just before I smashed his head to a pulp. And I just stood there, watching the boy cry and cry and cry and cry and cry.

"This is why you died."

He looked up at me, tears flooding his face, but with a face so angry that it made me almost take a step back. From the depths of his heart was a rage so dark that it put my past life to shame. But, disappointingly, he didn't use that, as the sadness that he had piled on top of that rage was a layered way too thick to break, penetrate, or even crack at that point. It had solidified into a blockage that limited him from achieving something greater.

"That is why I fucking died… CAUSE I'M USELESS! I'M SO FUCKING USELESS! SO LET ME GO! LET ME GO TO HELL, HEAVEN, PURGATORY! I DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHERE I GO AFTER DEATH! AS LONG AS IT ISN'T SPENT WITH YOU, YOU FUCKING MONSTER!" The boy continued to shout, but the more I looked at him, the more it felt as if he was hardly even looking at me. I mean, he was replying to my words, so surely he was talking to me, right?

Slowly, I swiveled my head around. My eyes harshly followed, grazing against the abyss around me. And with the sound of a droplet of water crashing against a calm pond of stillness, I saw a face that made a shiver shoot down my spine.

It was pale white. Sheet white. Paper white. Like the face had all the blood sucked out of it… but it didn't look lethargic and instead looked flawless. It was paper-white yet had beautiful skin and an almost androgynous face which was paired with semi-long white hair. His lips were a light gray, and his long eyelashes were pale white, contrasting against his rough dark pupils swirling like an abyssal whirlpool.

"You're-" With the sound of flesh cracking open like the snap of biting into a sausage, I took a step backward, nearly running into the boy glaring up at this man. A massive vertical eyeball with a black sclera and a white pupil with a black line running horizontally through it split open in the middle of the thing's forehead. It held an elegance to it but also a rough demonic nature that made me gulp.

Above his head was a clear ring, serving almost like a halo, and from that halo, a body sprouted from the bottom of the floating head. It was white, sleek, and muscular but lean. Two white angelic wings sprouted from his back, opening eyes on them that were similar to the one now staring at me.

Once his body had finished forming, he snickered, both ends of his mouth splitting upwards into that of a large smile. It was a genuinely terrifying expression that made me almost want to run away. But where could I have run? There was absolutely nowhere to run.

"We're all quite interesting, aren't we?"

"*gasp*... Huff… huff… huff… huff… huff… huff…" I gasped for air as soon as I shot my head upwards, touching the dark surfaces around me, only for my eyes to adjust a few seconds later. I was in my room, and above me was a woman with long dark green hair and black pupils staring directly down at me. "What the hell did you do to me?"

"Don't worry, I just wanted to help you solve this problem of yours. I'm sure being an Apostle of Light has some drawbacks, and I'm assuming you encountered them in the connection I gave you… right? Those problems of yours?"

"So you're the one who made me see them? What the hell is wrong with you? I don't want to talk to the boy whose body I've-"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"I already know. You can't escape my eyes…" The woman looked down on me from her creepy leaned position. Those black pupils of hers swirled like that of a whirlpool before forming a small white dot in the very center of each. "So, Jack. It would be in your best interest not to say anything about this. For your sake and yours… I mean, we're partners, right?"

"How did you… how did you find out?" I groaned as now that my secret was unlocked to the world, I could only go with the flow. If she wanted to, she could have told everybody, but if I had to be honest, I doubt anybody would even believe her. I mean, that's just straight-up crazy… somebody being reborn into another body.

"I'm assuming you have a connection with a god as being reincarnated into another body is something, well… godly. Was it the god of death? Or maybe another god whom the god of death owed a favor to?"

"You didn't answer my question," I glared back at the woman. I knew I still had the advantage in this conversation, so I used it to the best I could. "How did you find out I was reincarnated?"

"Well," The woman snickered, her lips piercing into that of a light smile. "I've been reincarnated into this world as well… and I know all about you, Jack the Ripper."

(Jake POV)

As I stood over the boy who would allow me to rise even higher up the ranks, the tip of my sword quivered. The rattling sound was enough to allow the boy to wake up and snap open his eyes. He retaliated very quickly with a shot of earth straight into my eyes, attempting to blind me, but I reacted even faster.

Turning my eyes to stone, I just barely blocked the blinding attack and then returned them to normal, allowing me to see the boy trying to get out of bed. He scuffled towards his spear, leaning against the corner of the room, and due to another slip-up of me hesitating once again, he was able to grab it.

"This is why you won't enter the Top 25. You're pathetic… you had so many chances to kill me, yet you failed… what a loser," The boy smirked, going in for a quick stab, but with my sword that was more like a long machete, I deflected it to the side, cracking its handle with ease. He was surprised to see his weapon almost break so easily, so he took a few steps back to try and recollect himself… only to feel the cold, unfeeling wall block his retreat.

FWOOSH… SHING

I split him in half as he tried to launch another stab at me, only to find his elbow get blocked by the wall behind him. Everything about this fight was set up for him to lose, even if I hesitated in the slightest.

"Fooooooo… I'm doing good. I'm doing alright," I muttered, swinging my blade downward, ridding it of the fresh and warm blood. But just as I was about to leave the room, I felt a gust of wind enters this completely sealed-off room. "I'm guessing you're here to kill me, right?"

"No, no… of course not. I only came to see the famed Ranker Killer do his job… and it seems he isn't as great as his legend. I thought I might actually feel threatened, but…" The voice, which was at the window, suddenly appeared behind me, a pair of lips almost touching my ear lobe. "... you're nothing but a pussy… great."

"I don't care. I have my own goals that I want to achieve… and I even had my own mindset redirected recently. I met with a few people I knew from where I grew up, and I only realized what I truly want to become."

"Oh? And what's that?" A pale face entered my vision. Their long and wavy white hair, paired with their ghostly white eyes, made for a ghastly appearance.

"You'll see soon enough."
