Chapter 403 Strange Mansion
(From Blue's Perspective)
"Ugh…!"
I woke up with a headache. I wondered if it was morning. It seemed like I had slept for quite a long time. Then, why did the maids not wake me up?
I opened my eyes slowly and rubbed them as they were slightly itchy. Two drops of water fell from my eyes as I yawned. There was an odd smell in the room. It was not bad. It was a scented candle perhaps, one that I had never seen before.
Who would place such a weird-scented candle in my room?
When my gaze finally became clear, I noticed I was not in my bedroom in the Imperial Palace. It was another room, an unknown room. The room was decorated with an excessive amount of blue.
"This…"
I remembered what happened on that rainy night at the lavender field. Was Abel okay? Did he do something to him? He was also the one who kidnapped Reece. Was Reece okay?
'In horror movies, when you are at a strange place, never say- is anyone here? I think it triggers the ghost or something. Since my life is more like a horror movie now, let's follow that tactic.'
I slowly got down from the bed. There was no window in the room which was very odd. Every room should have a window. But then again, Azure imprisoned me literally.
The room was actually very well decorated. I thought he would put me in a cell.
"You are very energetic when you get up, princess."
'Who the hell is princess? And who the hell are you?'
I turned abruptly hearing the noise. There was a man, his skin as pale as a sheet, standing with a very uncomfortable grin on his face. That same grin, I had seen it somewhere.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I am our lord's servant."
'Who the hell is our lord now? He is not my lord.'
"That person…"
"That person is the princess's father. Don't you know that?"
"I…"
"The lord ordered me to assist you all the time. And when you get up, you are to freshen up and go to the dining hall."
"What…?"
"You are to freshen up and go to the dining hall," he repeated mechanically.
I stared at him for a while. It did not take me long to understand that there was no point in resisting. He looked like someone who was very willing to force me.
"Then, I will use the washroom. Excuse me," I said and started to walk to the washroom.
I heard another set of footsteps following me.
"What the…? Where are you going?" I asked angrily. "I said I am going to the washroom!"
"Have I not mentioned yet, Princess? I am to be with the princess all the time," he said smugly.
"Not to the washroom too? I am a woman! I need privacy! Do you think I will get naked in front of you?!"
"Well, I don't mind that," he grinned.
'My lord, did he do something to me while I was unconscious?' I pondered, scared of the worst. 'This person… He clearly is someone any woman should not get near to.'
"I… I don't need to freshen up. Take me to the dining hall," I said, walking further away towards the door of the room to make sure there was enough gap between us.
"Are you sure, Princess? You have been sleeping for quite a while."
"I am."
"Really?"
"Yes! I am fine! Can't you see?"
"Ah, yes, I can see that."
I tried to open the door, but it did not open. Apparently, the door opened with magic. He opened the door for me, inching too close to me. Even though I tried to move away, he just placed both of his arms on either side of me, blocking me between the door and him.
I was thankful he at least opened the door quickly. I moved as far away from him as possible as soon as the door opened.
"Princess, do I stink?"
"Please keep your distance. I don't like people getting too close to me physically."
"Oh, I see. I will keep that in mind," he nodded. It did not look convincing to me at all.
It looked like I was inside a mansion. There was an excessive amount of the color blue everywhere. It irritated me a bit.
The dining hall was upstairs even though usually, it was downstairs.
I took a look at myself. I was wearing a blue nightgown. It was a satin nightgown that went up to my knees. The neckline was bigger than I would have liked. The man was looking at my chest often, making slurping noises. I could not change into something else, fearing this guy would not leave the room even when I changed.
"This way, Princess."
"Why are you calling me princess? I am not that."
"What am I supposed to call the princess if not 'Princess'?"
"I am the Queen of Querencia, not a princess."
"That means nothing to us, the servants of our lord," he said proudly.
We took a left turn and then a right turn as we reached the end of the long corridor. We came across four identical doors. But he took me through a path right beside the fast door which I did not even notice. It was like an illusion museum.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"To the dining hall."
"Are we?" I mumbled, confused.
I could at least try to use my power. But there was one thing I noticed right after waking up; a bracelet on my left wrist. It was a pale white bracelet with a blue eye-like decoration in the middle of it. The eye looked oddly real and terrifying.
I tried to use magic right after waking up. I tried to teleport. I had tried teleporting a lot of times but never succeeded. But, as if to examine my luck, I tried again today.
And failed.
I could not use even just a bit of my power. That was when I understood the purpose of the bracelet.
It prevented me from using any magic.
I had read about these objects before which could prevent a mage from using magic. Mages were forced to wear this when they committed a crime and it was time for their punishment. So the mages could not teleport or use any magic power, these bracelets were put on them. It was not just bracelets, they could be any objects; for example- earrings, rings, marks, and so on.
It took a powerful mage to make these. The design varied based on the maker's choice. And it could not be taken off without the maker's help.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The path was very narrow. Barely two people could fit side by side. He was making me go first, which I did not want at all. Because everything confused me.
"This mansion is strange."
"Strangely mesmerizing, you mean. It is the lord's mansion, a palace."
'It's not a palace though. The structure is different.'
I could breathe properly as we passed the narrow path. It was suffocating. "Which way now?" I asked.
"My daughter, you are here."
Hearing the disturbingly affectionate voice, I turned to my front and noticed I was in a small dining room. The table had a place for three people.
'It's a triangular-shaped table. I am not seeing things. It's truly a freaking triangular. Never in my life, had I imagined I would have to see something like this.'
Two seats were already occupied by two similar-looking men; one was older than the other.
"Come here, my daughter," Azure said, standing up. He had a big smile that could easily be mistaken for true affection. But I knew that was not the case.
I walked up to the table slowly. Azure gave me a big hug out of nowhere. I was surprised and disgusted.
"Did you have a nice sleep?" he asked.
"I was unconscious," I replied.
"Nah, I just put you to sleep," he said, shaking his impatiently. "Ah, you have been sleeping for ten hours. Let's eat something.
He attempted to pull a chair out for me. The creepy guy who had been with me intervened. "My lord, let me do it."
"I don't need you here. You can go now."
"Yes, my lord. Should I come back to escort the princess back to her room?" he asked, looking sideways at me in a weird way.
"Yes. Go now."
"Yes, my lord."
He pulled the chair out and helped me sit. Everyone sat at the straight parts of the triangle. The three corners had three bouquets of flowers. All of the flowers were blue. I recognized some of them.
On my right, it was Azure. And on my left, it was another man who looked exactly the same as me and Azure. There was basically no difference in the appearance of us three except the fact that I was a female and they were male.
