CHAPTER 377 - The Lion King.
"I AM HERE TO MEET THE DEMON LORD!"
A man with a bulky build and gruff voice, covered in a black cloak, roared, standing on the Waymart circle, located at the center of the demon capital and the busiest place of the empire.
His shout caused many brows to crease, and some demon soldiers moved closer to the man, wanting to apprehend him.
*Clang*
"Hey, you! Get down from there, and let me take you on a trip to the demon jail!"
A demon soldier spat as he hammered his spear on the ground, a frown, just like every other demon in the area, marring his face.
The large figure, however, remained unmoved.
No one could see the guy's face, as he had his face covered by the hood of the cloak; even his hands and feet were covered by the same black cloak, making it impossible to make out the guy's features.
The only things perceivable were the guy's buffered muscles, which would've intimidated anyone, but this was the demon empire; people didn't get intimidated by muscles here.
"You fucker! You gonna come down, or do you want me to come up there?!"
The soldier, on the other hand, grew angry, his partner catching up to him as well.
The guy was standing on the circle, and the circle was created a bit above the ground, with the statue of the new demon king placed over it.
No one ever dared to stand next to the statue, as that would be considered disrespect for the demon lord, but this guy was standing on the pedestal where the demon lord's statue was placed, instantly warranting him the death penalty.
*Chuckle*
The guy, however, just chuckled as if finding all of this funny.
"My to-be younger brother sure is demanding."
The guy muttered as his arms moved up on Alex's statue as if they were buddies.
The guy knew that the one he was called out to—the demon lord—must've already noticed his presence as the Waymart circle was just next to the castle, but the guy was still not responding, making him chuckle again.
His actions, however, caused the demon soldier to almost blast in rage.
"You—!! Kill that guy!"
The first soldier bellowed and rushed toward the guy with his friends—who were now next to him—all of their expressions mirroring the rage and fear they felt.
Rage as they saw the sheer amount of disrespect for their demon lord, and fear because they knew if someone knew that a lunatic with a death wish had done this deed in their presence, they might get implicated by the other as well.
*Inhale*
But just as the demon soldiers were rushing toward the guy, he took a large puff of air in, causing his chest to inflate, and the next second...n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"
I AM HERE TO MEET THE DEMON LORD!!
"
The guy roared with mana imbued in his voice, causing his voice to reverberate throughout the demon empire's capital.
"..."
For a second, time seemed to have slowed down, as there was nothing but deathly silence in the surroundings before...
*BOOOM*
A loud, eardrum-shattering explosion rang out, causing the ears of those close to the guy to bleed, but that was not all that happened.
*Crack—Shatter*
*Woosh—Bam*
"AHHHHHHHH!!!"
"NOOOO—!"
"Help me!"
The shockwave of the loud boom sent the soldiers, and anything that was in front of the guy was blown away; be it demons or their shops, everything was tossed up into the air, causing a scene of destruction to play out in front of the guy.
But the shockwave also removed his cloak from his head, revealing the guy's face.
He had shoulder-length, wild golden hair, left loose, as if the mane of a lion; his facial features were sharp, contrasting the wild grin that was tugged on his lips.
His face was covered in beards and mustaches, all in the shade matching his hair.
His body was still covered in a cloak, and his arms around the statue of the demon lord were now folded in front of his chest; his gaze focused on a certain point at the imperial castle as if asking, 'Want me to do more?'
*Woosh*
The next second, however, out of nowhere, multiple hands made of blood started to appear out of nowhere, catching the demons before they fell to their deaths or had their heads bashed in after crashing into the concrete buildings in the surroundings.
"Theron Embermane..."
A low growl was heard as Valerius descended down from the sky, his sharp red eyes gleaming with cold light.
"Valerius Voly Lofnus—Man, why're you always so serious?!"
The muscular guy, Theron, the emperor of the Ferox, the white tiger empire, tried to make a cold expression just like Valerius, mimicking the guy and calling out his name before his expression broke and he jumped down the pedestal.
It may seem like a random jump, but Theron, no matter how muscleheaded, was still the emperor of an empire for a reason.
He knew that doing something in front of a normal audience and someone as influential as Valerius were completely different things.
The level of disrespect his action would show if he were to still keep standing there wouldn't be called fun after this; it would turn into a political dispute.
"Do you want to die, Theron?"
Valerius, however, still didn't seem to be in the mood to entertain Theron, who was the emperor of a different empire—which could in a way mean that he was an enemy because everyone in the world was the demon empire as an enemy.
"Why would you say such harsh words, Valerius? I came in peace—"
Theron, on the other hand, let out an exaggerated sigh as if really sad by what Valerius was doing. Enjoy new stories from empire
"Theron, state your purpose, or I won't mind reducing the number of competitors we might have to face later."
Theron's words were soon cut short by Valerius's words.
"...."
Theron, who had been smiling until now, had his expression freeze before it turned hard.
"Valerius Voly Lofnus," he growled before he added.
"Do you, as a general, have the standing to speak to me, an emperor here to converse with your emperor, in such a manner?"
His golden eyes bore into the demon general's sharp red eyes.
But unlike what one would think, Valerius didn't back down.
"This is not the human empire, Theron, nor is it like any other empire you may have visited; this is the demon empire, and only the demon lord himself is accorded the respect that an emperor deserves."
By now, the other demons, who were flung away by Theron a second ago, were standing on the ground, glaring at Theron fearlessly, even though they knew that the guy was way too strong for them to be able to do anything.
Their stand was clear; they weren't going to give him the respect he wanted.
Theron, almost always easygoing, couldn't take this amount of disrespect; as an emperor, he had his pride as well.
*Crack*
His fists clenched, causing a cracking sound to reverberate throughout the area.
"Return, Theron; I can only offer one chance, considering that you have never interfered in the war between humans and demons."
Valerius, on the other hand, just waved his hand, giving the guy a chance, which in a way could also be seen as disrespect.
"Do you think I will just go back after coming this far away from my empire?"
With a cold glint in his eyes, Theron growled, his mane-like hair growing denser and his eyes turning slitted.
"Do not be a fool, Tharon; this is the demon empire, and there are more than one who could defeat you residing in that castle."
Valerius shook his head, pointing at the imperial castle, but Theron just scoffed.
"Hah! You think I, the emperor of Ferox, would run away from a battle?!"
His voice rose as his body grew bigger, ripping away the cloak he was wearing, revealing his body, which was slowly getting covered in fur.
Valerius, who knew perfectly well that words weren't going to get through the battle-hungry Tharon's head, shook his head, deciding to finish this as soon as possible.
But just then...
*Woop*
A strange sound was heard, causing each pair of eyes in the area to turn toward the sky, and there they saw him.
The Lord of the Demon Empire, Alex Matthew, standing with his hands behind his back, a calm smile marring his face, staring at Tharon.
*Thud*
As if in a tendon, all of the demons in the surroundings went to their knees and shouted at the same time.
"
WE GREET THE DEMON LORD!
"
Alex, however, ignored them, staring at Theron for a while before he turned toward Valerius.
"Bring him to the throne room; let us hear what he wishes to discuss."
With those words being the only thing he spoke, Alex vanished again, teleporting back into the throne room, sitting on his throne with Noctura on his lap and his women sitting on the three new thrones placed beside him, none less grand than the other.
With that, he waited.
He was getting bored anyway, so he might as well entertain that guy.
What do you think?
