Chapter 43 A dungeon?
"Okay, I don't know anything about skinning this thing. I tried once with the Vixenox but it only became a mess." Lucas said while he looked at the creature's neck. When he finally touched the creature, blue-colored texts came in front of his eyes.

Xerax (Diseased)
Level 4

'Level 4...'
It was the same level as the last rapacious plant they hunted. Lucas couldn't help but be astonished at the fact that his father had killed many of this level yet Lucas's full group was not able to do it with their numbers.
"Lucas, this is too much... it is free food that your mother gave..." John said with an embarrassed face.
"It is not free, Uncle John. We will provide them with glimmerroots and other eatables from the forest."
John still had some reluctance but could see that it was not really 'free' food.
"But if we don't skin this thing, it won't matter even if we get it."
"I know skinning, Lucas," Sarah said with sparkling eyes as if wanting to do work that would go on her record.
"My whole family knows how to skin, why don't Sean and Barney help Sarah skin this thing?"
"Oh, No problem, just leave it to us, Dad!" Seand said while keeping a hand around Barney's shoulder who also had an approving expression.
"It's settled then, you all skin while we three will go explore a bit. If anything's a problem. Just contact me through the system."
"Haha... it's become quite convenient." Lucas couldn't help but make a manly excited giggle.
"That is true, tell you what. Let's leave in half an hour." John said and rested his eyes after sitting down. Lucas was not the only one who took an all-nighter that day.
While John was resting, Lucas decided to call his sister who apparently got the corpse from their mother too.
Ella helped the others in the skinning process which had become a bit better since the last time as Sarah had the sharp axeheads that John had just sharpened early in the morning for later.
Half an hour later, the trio was ready to venture outside on the lookout for the chests guarded by the boss monsters or dungeons that the system said would spawn randomly.
The trio moved to the south where they found the rapacious plant. Lucas had two spears, one in the hand while the other hung at his back with the support of his shirt.
As the trio ventured further south, their eyes remained alert, scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger or potential treasures. The air carried a mix of excitement and anticipation as they walked through the dense foliage of the forest.
Lucas took the lead, spear in hand, his senses sharp. John followed closely behind, his experienced gaze assessing their surroundings for any hidden threats. Ella had a spear in her hand too but her main focus was to heal in the trio's time of need.
They ventured further into the forest, this time with the determination to go deep while being safe.
It had been 20 minutes since they kept walking. Lucas kept looking behind at the duo to know if they would get tired or not. The forest was bumpy, there were uneven grounds, sometimes grass the height of Lucas that they avoided and sometimes even the roots of the ginormous trees were so big above the ground that they had to climb it.
But John didn't forget to keep making a marking on the trees, it was for an extra measure to come back safely to the shelter later on. John already knew how to analyze footprints and the trio were leaving quite a few of there's behind.
"Wait, look down." John broke the long silence by crouching down and pointing at a certain track on the ground. The grass was pressed and the soil around had a foot's shape implemented on it.
Lucas stopped to examine the trail, analyzing the ground for any traces of recent activity. He knelt down, his fingers brushing against the dirt as he detected faint footprints and scuff marks. It was evident that something had passed through here not long ago.
And one thing was obvious, it didn't walk on two feet like the humans or the Kobolds, or not even the Goblins, the creature was all on all fours, and by the shape of the footprint, they were hooves.
Lucas and John made eye contact and nodded, both had comparatively the same mindset when it was time to make some big decision. They both knew with a single nod that they both had the same idea in their mind, to follow the footsteps that looked to be going quite far.
Ella didn't bother with their decisions, in the end, she was only there to heal them in their time of need and was told to stay out of the fights as much as possible. But John was still paranoid so he showed her a few tricks of how to use the spear with efficiency.
In the shelter's group, only two of the six had the rookie spearmanship skill at level 1 and they both were Lucas and John as expected with their prowess. Lucas was not some prodigy or a person with a lot of experience with life.
It was just that his mindset was different that the others, while one would think that a said task was hard and dangerous, Lucas would get excited to do it even if his life was in danger.
He was good at adapting to the fast changes going on around him and had most of the leadership qualities one needed because of his mother. He strived to learn things that he didn't know irrespective of the type. This was why he was a jack of all trades yet hand mastery of none.
They kept following the track of the footprints that were straight for a long time, with John's help, it was already deduced that there was only one footstep for a long time until there started to be many.
"This is getting serious..." John said while pressing some solid in his hand, around them were a lot of tracks. Some were definitely hooves while one of them looked to be a foot.
"4 creatures on fours and 1 is on two... What do you say?" John asked Lucas and Ella at the same time.
"What do you think, we have come this far, and am not going back without results this time, it's getting depressing, sorry." Lucas stated with a grumpy tone.
It had been many times since Lucas and the others ventured out and after all this time, they had only found 3 mana cores.
Many of their trips had been a fail but Lucas was not planning on making another one yet again... fail.
In the end, the duo also agreed and they started walking again while looking for more tracks.
5 minutes later, in their eye range. Lucas could see a huge greyish stone. At the height of five meters. There was nothing around that looked relatively similar to the huge stone.
And the discovery of the huge stone was not the end, all the tracks had stopped at this place and the trio knew why that was the case.
The big stone was not in any way simple, and it was not another one of the theories that Lucas liked coming up, there was an actual entrance inside the stone. Lucas was mesmerized by the sight, at one glace, the stone was not long in width but the entrance looked abyssal, unending.
"What do we do now?" Lucas asked the two beside him. He was not the only one that looked at the sight with fascination.
"Is this a dungeon? Or just... something else?" Ella asked with curiosity.
"Didn't you get the description till now, Lucas and Ella? Think of what it is and just keep looking."
Lucas shrugged and looked, he didn't want to feel like a child and was embarrassed that he didn't do it before John as he was the one who told him in the first place about this ability of everyone.

"Before making any rash decision, I gotta try something." John looked around and finally picked a small stone in his hand. Even if it was small, it didn't break with the strength of a level 3 John.
John closed his eyes, and three seconds later, his hair started moving furiously as if there were strong winds but nothing was happening to the other two.
John opened his eyes, got up, and went in a throwing stance.
PEW!
A high pitch voice came from the throw that was intensified with the help of his wind manipulation.
With his accuracy, the stone went flying inside but to their surprise, there was no crashing sound.
"It's as if there is extra space inside... the back of the stone boulder can be seen. Sigh... what a headache..."
