CH.549 Deck Master Tournament, part 4

And now, to the third and final duel in the match between Maiko and Damian.

Since Maiko lost the second duel, she got to pick which one goes first, and she wanted to go first.

Maiko drew a card, and during her standby, her deck master gained a level. She then normal summoned Fortune Lady Fire, activated Future Visions, set a spell/trap face down and ended her turn.

Damian’s turn, and after drawing, during his standby phase, Fortune Ladies gained levels.

Damian used his deck master to search for an Elemental HERO Bubbleman, which he then summoned. And since Bubbleman was summoned to an empty field, Damian got to draw two cards. Sure Bubbleman was also banished by Future Visions, but drawing cards is still nice.

Damian then discarded King of the Swamp so he could add Polymerization from his deck to his hand. He then used Reinforcement of the Army to add Elemental HERO Avian to his hand.

Maiko’s turn, she drew a card, and her deck master gained a level.

She activated Sorcerer Support to add Fortune Lady Light from her deck to her hand. She then summoned Light, which got banished by Future Visions, which triggered Light’s effect, which Maiko used to summon Fortune Lady Dark from her deck.

Maiko then entered her battle phase, and declared an attack on Wild Wingman with Fortune Lady Dark.

Damian countered this by activating his set De-Fusion, returning Wild Wingman to the extra deck and special summoning Avian and Wildheart from the GY in defense position.

Spoiler

Replay occurred, so Maiko changed her attack to target Avian. It went through fine, which activated Fortune Lady Dark’s effect which special summoned Fortune Lady Fire from her GY. Damian also activated his set Hero Signal to special summon Elemental HERO Clayman from his deck in defense position.

Spoiler

And since Fortune Lady Fire was special summoned by the effect of a Fortune Lady monster, Maiko could target a monster on the field, destroy it, and burn the opponent equal to the monster’s attack. Maiko destroyed the Wildheart and Damian took 1500 damage.

Maiko then set a card and ended her turn.

Damian’s turn, and during his standby, Fortune Ladies gained levels. His Bubbleman, which was banished by Future Visions also returned to his field.

Damian then used the effect of his deck master to destroy spells/traps Maiko controls up to the number of Elemental Heroes Damian has on his field. Damian has 2, so both Future Visions and Maiko’s set card were on the line. But in response, Maiko activated her set Time Passage, increasing Fortune Lady Dark’s level by 3 for the turn.

Damian used E - Emergency Call to add Elemental HERO Captain Gold from his deck to his hand. Which he immediately discarded to add Skyscraper to his hand.

Damian set a card and ended his turn. Fortune Lady Dark’s level returned to 6.

Spoiler

[Note: Damian didn’t attack and destroy Fortune Lady Fire because next turn, Maiko will likely attack over something with Fortune Lady Dark, allowing her to summon Fire from the GY, triggering its effect, allowing Maiko to target and destroy something. And inflict more burn. Also, he can’t change Bubbleman to defense because of Future Visions rulings.]

But before activating the Field Spell, Maiko tributed her Fortune Lady Fire to tribute summon Fortune Lady Earth. Then she activated Future Visions.

Spoiler

She entered her battle phase, attacking Bubbleman with Fortune Lady Earth. Bubbleman got the 1000 attack boost from Skyscraper, but that wasn’t enough to stand up to the 2400 attack Fortune Lady Earth, so Bubbleman (1800 ATK with the boost) was destroyed and Damian took 600 damage.

This led to plays that looked extremely familiar. Damian used Hero Signal to summon Elemental Hero Sparkman, in defense position. Meanwhile, Maiko used Fortune Lady Dark’s effect to special summon Fortune Lady Fire from the GY, which she then used to target and destroy Sparkman, inflicting 1600 damage to Damian.

Spoiler

Maiko then attacked Clayman with Fortune Lady Dark, destroying it. She then used Dark’s effect to special summon Fortune Lady Light from the GY.

Maiko then attacked directly with both Fortune Lady Light and Fortune Lady Fire, inflicting a total of 600 damage to Damian.

She then special summoned her deck master, and with 6 levels, Fortune Lady Master had 3600 attack. She attacked directly with it, leaving Damian with just 100 life points.

She then ended her turn.

Maiko won and she will be going to the finals to duel Indigo.

The finals, and the match against me, were going to take place tomorrow, so the rest of the day was spent having fun and enjoying ourselves.

I ended up having a few duels. Just single duels, no matches. For these duels, I used a Arcana Force deck. No, it isn’t the deck I’ll be using for the ‘creator match’, I have a custom one, with a custom deck master, for that. If you want to guess, I’ll give you a hint. It is a deck that a GX antagonist uses.

But back to my duels. The first one to duel me was Nevelle, and she did defeat me. I then dueled Elias and beat him.

After those two, a few other competitors asked for duels and I dueled them as well. I won 4 out of my 7 duels, which is fine enough. But with this deck I wouldn’t have won the tournament. Luckily I’m the host, not a competitor.

As the evening was coming to an end, I had one more thing to show to everyone. That being a recording I took in the Factory, of myself having a riding duel against Janina. It was a semi-scripted show duel where I was running Junk-Stardust, aka. basically Yusei’s deck, while Janina used Resonator-Red Dragon Archfiend.

I wanted to show it to the competitors to advertise my next tournament, despite the fact that it will take a while until I’m ready to host it. But advertising in this world can be hard, and word of mouth is one of the best ways of doing it, so better to do it than not to.
