Chapter 610: Chapter 0610: New Host (Additional 6400, Seeking Monthly Tickets)

“What… What just happened to me?”

Xu Changqing got up, clutched his forehead, and suddenly, he remembered everything.

In the middle of the night, the team urgently summoned all members to rescue the young girl who had been entranced by the ‘Soul-Binding Demon,’ they finally traced her to this place and found that Li Shitou had already gone inside.

Wang Hu and Lv Bao led the majority of the team inside to assist, leaving only a small group outside.

Typically, this kind of mission was left to him, the so-called ‘waste’.

“Iron Egg!”

He looked around and found that it was already morning. The first rays of sun were beginning to shine down, and his few companions were unconscious next to him, their weapons scattered all over the ground.

“We actually slept outside for the whole night? Fortunately, no demons passed by…”

Xu Changqing patted his chest with lingering fear.

“Fool… it’s not that no demons passed by, but that they were all scared away by a stronger ‘aura’…”

A voice sounded in his heart.

“Who? Who is it?”

Xu Changqing was startled.

“Me? Haha… I’m the entity that once assisted Li Shitou. Otherwise, how do you think a little boy like him could have accomplished so many incredible things… Unfortunately, I can only provide advice and assistance, I can’t take action myself, so he died…”

The voice continued, “You can call me ‘Grandpa’. I need a ‘host’, and in turn, I will provide you with a lot of assistance… as long as you promise me one condition-to repay me with a favor when you are capable of doing so in the future.”

“Wait…” Xu Changqing ceased listening to anything else and focused on one thing, “Shitou… he’s dead?”

“Not only Li Shitou, but others as well… but that ‘entity’ has already left, you can go inside and see… there won’t be any other dangers.”

Su Lu relayed.

“Iron Egg, Ergou!”

Xu Changqing’s face turned pale, he woke up his companions who were all in a panic, asking about the situation.

“Something might have happened to the team leader and the others. I am going to go inside and check, you guys wait here for me!”

Holding a spear in his hand, Xu Changqing took a deep breath and entered the cave.

“Looks like you’re cautious, not rashly exposing my existence…” Su Lu was fairly satisfied with this second host.

As for the ‘giant infant’ inside the cave?

He didn’t even consider it. Such a high-level occupational person, who had seen too much and was too cunning, would not be an ideal trading partner.

And as for possession? He didn’t intend to use a single bit of his strength in this world. Besides, once the other party resisted, the ‘heaven and earth’ would definitely be informed, and his concealment would fail.

“I don’t know…”

Xu Changqing looked pained, holding a torch in his hand, he walked to the innermost part of the cave.

A strong smell of blood filled his nostrils, and it seemed to be mixed with a sweet fragrance, eliciting mankind’s most primitive instincts.

The green fire had disappeared.

With a shine of his torch, he immediately saw a bloody battlefield.

“Team leader?”

“Deputy leader?”

The bodies of Wang Hu and Lv Bao lay at the edge of the cave entrance, Lv Bao’s longbow had been split in two, and Wang Hu, with rage-filled eyes, maintained a charging posture, but there was a chicken-egg-sized bloody hole at his heart, going clean through him.

Even Qi-refinement warriors could hardly withstand such evil forces.

“Shitou!”

Further inside, Xu Changqing saw the bisected Li Shitou.

His dark red blood had coagulated around him, and various red, black, and brown substances were scattered everywhere.

“No…”

Tears streamed uncontrollably from Xu Changqing’s eyes.

Su Lu comforted him, “There’s no shame in a moderate amount of grief, but it’s shameful to wallow in sorrow… Cry if you want.”

“You…”

Suddenly, Xu Changqing said coldly, “On what grounds can you prove that you didn’t do this? Up to now, all I’ve heard is your side of the story, right?”

Su Lu chuckled, “Very clever… this question had been preying on your mind, why only ask now? If I really were the murderer, shouldn’t you hide all this and wait until you reach Qingyang City or somewhere else with backup to reveal everything? Your senses of grief and hatred have corroded your rationality, and let you make an unwise choice.”

“Tell me!!” Xu Changqing clenched his fists and trembled all over.

“Not me… if you want proof, look over there…”

Su Lu pointed out a direction for Xu Changqing.

Xu Changqing looked over, and his body stiffened.

There was a giant dark red mass of flesh, forming an irregular pot shape. A rupture the size of a grown man spread across the surface, as though there was originally a person ‘imprinted’ inside who had forcibly ‘squeezed’ his way out.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

He couldn’t make out the true color of the mass in the light of the torch. It seemed to emanate a black light, filling the air with an indescribable horror. It was an existence beyond human understanding.

Like a root system, a network of blood vessels extended out from beneath the mass, seemingly drawing nutrients from the ground. Some embryonic flesh lay scattered haphazardly around, like cast-off ‘failures’.

The whole mass seemed to exist solely to nurture something ‘terrifying’

“Alright, don’t look too long, you can’t bear even the slightest remnants now.”

Su Lu’s reminding voice came, and Xu Changqing awoke from his stupor, quickly looking away.

That disgusting mass of flesh seemed to have an odd magic power, unconsciously drawing him over.

If not for Su Lu’s warning, he would have fallen into the trap.

“Is this… a demonic breeding ground?”

Xu Changqing asked inwardly, “Why would such a terrifying ‘thing’ be near our Xiaozhai Village? Why would such a disaster happen to our village?”

His voice bore the hint of a sob.

But for the people of this world, abnormal existences were like natural disasters, unavoidable and a sign of bad luck when encountered.

“It’s not a natural disaster, but a man-made calamity!”

Su Lu reminded coldly.

“What?”

Xu Changqing suddenly looked up, his eyes flared with hatred, “Who?”

“Maybe it’s inaccurate to describe with ‘human’, it should be said… it’s a ‘demon’!” Su Lu chuckled.

“‘Demon’? Isn’t it formed from human cultivators? Why would they do something like this?” Xu Changqing asked coldly.

“You already know?” Su Lu asked in surprise. He had initially thought he would have to explain.

“I’ve had a couple of miscellaneous books at home, they mention ‘demons’!” Xu Changqing said, “You haven’t answered my question yet!”

“Although ‘demons’ originate from human cultivation, they have surpassed the life form of humans and can be regarded as two different species! Look at that human figure, don’t you feel that the proportions of its arms, legs, and head seem a bit off? That’s because it is still an ‘infant’, a giant infant! When it grows up, it definitely will have a height of at least two zhangs (around 6.66 meters), a giant!”

Su Lu asked with a light smile, “Before you start killing chickens and ducks when you’re hungry, do you first ask for their permission?”
