The God's Games

Chapter 287 Summoning the God of Darkness

After the people from Magic Tower finally dealt with the demons, they found a strange plaque inside the building.

The inscription on it was in a language they did not recognize, so they brought it back with them.

When the players receive the plaque, the system notification pop out immediately.

[ An artifact that was once owned by the God of Darkness. You can use it to summon the God of Darkness once in a place rich in dark magic. ]

Summon the God of Darkness?

In the players' minds, this could only mean one thing: it was a dungeon where they would summon the boss for a battle!

In other words, they could summon the God of Darkness directly, defeat him as a boss, and end this battle!

It's not without reason that the players thought this way.

After playing so many games, they had never encountered a game where war felt so oppressively intense.

The demons kept attacking them relentlessly, like an endless horde of monsters, never stopping to rest.

They began to wonder if they had missed a clue to trigger the main questline, which might explain why the story seemed to progress so slowly.

Now they thought, if they summoned the God of Darkness and defeated him, would that put an end to the current situation?

After some consideration, the players decided to immediately use the mission item.

The only thing they knew for sure was that where the demon army was, the dark magic was bound to be abundant.

So, they planned to sneak out of Ulon City, summon the God of Darkness in front of the demon army, and gather the strength of over a hundred thousand players on the server, confident that they could wear down the God of Darkness.

Perhaps the players' proactive approach wasn't wrong, but when Hanjun saw their every move, a sense of unease rose in his heart.

In fact, the building the Order of the Shattering Light followers had stumbled upon was the only remaining shrine of the God of Darkness.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

Long ago, the creatures he created had built this church-like structure for him.

Unfortunately, most of those creatures had since perished, and no one remembered the place anymore.

Luckily for the God of Darkness, he doesn't need the so-called faith energy, so he never cared much about such trivial matters.

The plaque left behind in that building was a tool he had created at the suggestion of the God of Light, something for his creations to contact him with.

Eventually, the plaque was left in the structure, and no one ever summoned him again.

The players, unaware of all this, simply assumed it was some useful artifact.

When they reached a spot not far from the demon army and saw the plaque emitting a faint glow, they thought it was really going to work and prepared to use it right away.

How could Hanjun have known they intended to do something like this?

He reached out, trying to snatch the plaque away.

But who could have expected that his actions weren't as fast as the players?

Hanjun's movement halted halfway.

Only after the players noticed Hanjun did they ask, "Hanjun, what are you doing here?!"

Hanjun, an NPC, had been missing for quite some time.

As an important character, his sudden disappearance without explanation seemed very strange.

If it hadn't been for Father Barry vouching for Hanjun, assuring the players that he was fine and likely had his own reasons for going missing, the players would have already started searching for him all over.

Now that they encountered Hanjun amidst the demon army, did this mean their actions were part of a highly important hidden quest?

Otherwise, why would Hanjun appear at such a moment?

If Hanjun knew what they were thinking, he would be at a loss for words.

A hidden quest?

They were probably about to trigger a hidden ending, one with a difficulty that would double the challenge.

Running off to use a mission item without asking any questions—only players would do something like that.

Hanjun had been thinking that Hanbin would honor their agreement and wouldn't take the initiative to attack humans.

But now, seeing as they couldn't reason with each other, there would inevitably be a battle to settle things.

What Hanjun hadn't anticipated was that the players would summon the God of Darkness and even intend to challenge him.

This meant that the God of Darkness could now attack the players without breaking their agreement.

In other words, the players had just completely derailed Hanjun's original plan.

Hanjun gestured for the players to remain silent and observe the unfolding events.

The plaque floated into the air, its glow growing more pronounced with each passing moment.

Suddenly, dark clouds covered the sky, and darkness descended, with only the light from the plaque connecting heaven and earth, creating a magnificent sight.

Because of this spectacle, both the demon army and everyone in Ulon City noticed what was happening.

The demons could feel the overwhelming divine power emanating from the God of Darkness, and since it was close by, they quickly surrounded the area.

Meanwhile, the people of Ulon City grew worried, wondering if this scene signified that the demons had grown even stronger.

How would they respond to what came next?

The players on the scene trembled with excitement—they had really done it!

They had summoned the God of Darkness.

Hanjun watched coldly from the side as the plaque emitted a final, blinding light that forced everyone present to shut their eyes.

When they opened their eyes again, the sky had turned pitch black, as if night had fallen.

Only a blood-red moon illuminated the earth, allowing the players to see the man standing before them.

At first glance, the players felt a bit disappointed upon seeing Hanbin.

The God of Darkness had been hyped up so much, yet here he was—a completely ordinary human figure wearing a hood.

Aside from his impressive entrance, there was nothing particularly special about him.
