The Dungeon Conquerors: Journey to the Peak

After reaching the village of Narhido, Rein first went to meet with the chief of the village. This village did have a single mage who was an unranked one and he also joined the meeting to help the magicless village chief out.

The mission description was not very detailed so Rein had many questions for the village chief. The case here was quite suspicious so Rein was trying to be as cautious as possible. So he tried to ask the village chief and the unranked mage many questions to get a good idea about the situation here.

After the question answering session was over, Rein had gotten a good overview about what was happening here and the culprit who was behind all this. So since last month, the village would sudden get surrounded by fog and some disturbing figures were seen dancing in the fog.

Obviously this was an extremely scary situation for the villagers but after this happening for almost everyday, the villagers got a bit used to it. Obviously they still did not dare to come out of their house during the time when the fog was outside the village but inside their houses, they felt safe as nothing had happened to anyone till then.

But then, the very next day, all the villagers were struck with immense fear after seeing one of their fellow villager dancing like the bizzare figure in the fog. After his family members went to check on him, they found that he was already dead.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

At that time, the only mage of the village went to check on him and judge that something or someone controlling the body of the dead man like a puppet and was making him to dance like the bizzare figures of the fog.

He had no concrete idea about who the culprit behind all this was or why was it playing with a bunch of regular villagers but he was sure that the culprit was not something he could deal with. So he immediately convinced the village chief to ask for help from the city.

Hearing the description about the incident, Rein and Luna had already came to a conclusion about the identity about the strange beast responsible for all this. Luna was extremely excited after learning this. She had all the reasons in the world to be excited about this.

The strange beast responsible for this type of fog with dancing figure was an ape like strange beast. This strange beast was extremely sadistic and liked to like to play with its prey. If this beast had targeted this village, then all the people inside it were dead people walking and were at the mercy of the ape. Only by killing it could they be free of this terror.

After Rein told them about the strange ape beast, both the village chief and the unranked mage started shaking in fear. So far, in less than a month, seven people had already died here. For a village of this size, losing seven people was a very big deal. So they immediately bowed to Rein's group and asked for their help.

Rein, Lopas and Luna were unwilling to waste any time and immediately decided to take care of this beast. It was rank 3 strange beast but this beast could also reach the fourth rank. But normally a fourth rank ape would not target a small village instead they would be brave and strong enough to go against a city. So for the ape to be a rank 3 here was the most probable outcome.

As for the reason why Luna was extremely happy about this outcome, that was because the affinity that this kind of beast had was closely related to the star affinity of hers. So by using the core of the strange beast as the catalyst, she could boost the power and versatility of her own affinity.

Luna was also determined to defeat this ape all on her own. For a rank 4 mage like Lopas and a rank 5 mage like Rein, defeating this beast was easy. So Luna wanted to show the result of her training to Rein and Lopas by defeating this similar ranked beast with her own power.

Rein and Lopas respected Luna's wish did not give her any unasked help. Luna first activated a spell called Sheet of Stars. This was a searching and investigation spell and with this she was able to find the hiding ape beast easily.

As soon as Luna detected it, the ape also noticed that it was discovered because of some kind of spell. This strange beast was smart enough to think about running away but after noticing that Luna and its own power level was the same, instead of running, the ape decided to fight it out.

So it was the first one to make a move. Fog surrounded the whole area where Luna was and various strangely dancing figures appeared in the fog. This was exactly the scene that the village chief was describing.

As Rein and Lopas were hiding there power, they were not given any attention by the ape. So they calmly watched everything happening while looking forward to seeing how Luna was going to handle this attack.

There was various ways how Luna could counter this attack. She could just destroy this fog domain with brute force and she even had spell especially created for this purpose. But she did not do that. And she had a reason for not using that spell.

The dancing figures that appeared in the fog were not illusions. Instead they were the trapped souls of the people who were killed by this ape. Luna did not care much about people who were not a part of her family but still she was a kind enough person to not allow the trapped souls to suffer anymore.

So instead of casting the domain breaking spell, she started casting a super long purification spell that would relieve all the trapped souls. Obviously during the chanting process, the ape tried to attack her but Luna defended against all the attacks with a barrier.

Soon, she was done with the preparation of the purification spell and she released it without delay. As soon as the spell was activated, the whole fog domain lit up with a calming white light. Then soon all the dancing figure stopped dancing and started dissipating. It looked like they all were thanking Luna while that was happening.

After losing so many of its power source in such a short amount of time, the ape started howling in pain and weakened considerably. Taking advantage of that weakness, Luna used a spell called "Lunar Blade" to finish it off.

Just like that, the big danger looming over the Narhido village was gone.
