Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 426 Face Change

Nathan and Alavenya came to the auction house.

Since Alavenya was in charge of the auction's protection, she first had to meet with the security guards. To her surprise, there were a total of six summoners in charge of the protection.

This should be enough to prevent any kind of fight or at least stop them for a while.

"We're honored to meet you. I'm the captain of the guards, Reid. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to tell me."

"I'm Alavenya Silveresta. You don't have to be formal with me because I'm here as a student. If possible, I would like to know about the layout of the auction house. I need to check them in case the ones targeting us have prepared something."

"Yes. I will guide you personally."

"Sounds good." Alavenya nodded in agreement.

On the other hand, Nathan had reached the storage, where they gathered all the items they were planning to auction tomorrow.

Instead of going in, Nathan regrouped with Jinwu.

"How is it? Do you find anything suspicious?" Nathan asked.

"Nothing. No one has approached this place since yesterday. The guards remain as usual. It's too peaceful."

"Isn't that good?" Nathan chuckled. "Anyway, get some rest. I need to rely on you protecting this place tonight. However, conserve your stamina in case we need to fight."

Jinwu looked at Nathan for a bit. Despite saying those words, Nathan looked like he had realized something.

"All right." Jinwu disappeared into thin air.

While smiling at the guards, Nathan sat down. "I hope you don't mind my presence here. You can just ignore me."

"Ah, yes, sir."

The guards didn't know what to do, but they had been informed that Nathan would be here. And since he was a summoner, it wouldn't be weird for the manager to hand over the authority to Nathan.

So, they saw Nathan as their superior despite being a decade younger than them.

Nathan just sat on the corner so that they wouldn't be bothered that much. After that, he started playing with his ena to improve his control while still being in the room.

As he expected, it was a boring day. There was nothing he could do, and the enemies didn't plan to attack them.

In the end, both Alavenya and Nathan returned to the inn without anything going on.

The auction finally started. Alavenya wasn't bothered with the people attending the auction, even if they were nobles.

She just remained in her position and watched the entire auction.

Meanwhile, Nathan asked Jinwu and Anubis to remain near the storage while he accompanied the staff to bring the items one by one.

The auction was quite huge, considering more than three hundred people were attending it.

The fight was intense, but Nathan wasn't really interested in the items. In the end, he'd already got everything he wanted.

The auction lasted for four hours.

When the last item was up, Nathan met up with Alavenya.

"Do you notice anything wrong?" Nathan asked.

Alavenya shook her head. "No. There's nothing wrong. No one looks suspicious."

"I see. That's good then." Nathan nodded.

"You should have been the one handling this. You are more adept than me in reading everyone's mind, including mine. If you were here, you might be able to find them." Alavenya sighed.

"Even if I remain here, I won't be able to catch them. They should know what will happen to them the moment they make a move inside the city, so they won't leave anything out. Anyway, how about the two items?"

"The sword was bought by Count Reysion. A merchant bought the shield."

"Do you keep an eye on them?" Nathan asked.

"Yes. I have stationed my familiar outside to keep an eye on the outside, making sure we know the directions. But I'm afraid they'll be leaving in two different directions. Count Reysion should be living north here, and he doesn't really need a teleportation circle to return. I'm not sure about the merchant."

"In that case, you will keep an eye on the merchant. Which one is Count Reysion?"

Alavenya pointed at a middle-aged guy with a long mustache. "That one. The Mustache Count."

Nathan chuckled. "I see. Alright. This should be enough for the time being.

"120,000 coins going once…"

"Going twice…"

"Going thrice…"

"Sold!"

Nathan couldn't help but squint his eyes. "It seems they're done. We should stand at the main entrance to show our presence before meeting the manager to get our reward. When it's time to start an argument, I will tug you, and you will whisper to me something. And we'll improvise after that."

"Got it."

"Let's go."

As expected, Nathan became a hot topic the moment he showed his face. His name had spread around the world, so it wouldn't be weird for people to recognize him. Most wealthy people and nobles had their own means to get his picture after all.

And once the word spread, it became a wildfire.

Nobody really cared about Alavenya. In the end, she was famous because of her father, while Nathan was famous because of his achievement.

Alavenya couldn't help but smile when he was overwhelmed by the people wanting to know him or even offering some gifts.

"Ahahaha. I'm on a mission. I'm sorry, but I can't accept anything. I need to finish my mission, so please take care of yourself!" Nathan apologized while trying to escape.

"Are you done?" Alavenya chuckled. "You should talk to them a bit more. I can finish up the rest."

"NO! Run!" Nathan just grabbed her wrist and ran away.

Obviously, there were a few people observing the commotion. They looked at Nathan and Alavenya running back, so it was clear that they wouldn't go out for the time being.

"Big bro. It seems they will be too busy to deal with us."

"Yeah. We'll proceed as planned. Get ready outside the city."

"Understood. Count Reysion is going to the north, and Mr. Saubi is heading east."

"Alright. Let's begin."

The two men who had been whispering to each other walked to the exit. Unbeknownst to everyone, their faces changed in a split second, not letting others notice the sudden change.
