Chapter 142 - 142 Has the Young Master Rejected Me?
Chapter 142: Chapter 142 Has the Young Master Rejected Me?
Abigail Green never thought Brandon Piers would reject her.
But when she heard, “What if I don’t agree?” she realized that her previous certainty was just wishful thinking.
She believed Brandon’s life was more important than the engagement.
At least more important than the engagement with Ruby Green.
However, Brandon’s refusal suddenly made her realize that she had made a subjective error in judgment. Although she had done Brandon a favor, saving his life, it didn’t mean he had to agree to all her terms.
Struggling to compose herself, Abigail looked firmly at Brandon. The face she once found charming now seemed less so, and her tone grew cold. “Is the second young master rejecting me?”
“Yes.” Brandon’s reply was resolute. If before his indifference to the wedding with Ruby was partly to outwit the Piers family’s monsters and complete his surgery, this recent setback in the lab made him realize he needed to seize full control of Piers as quickly as possible.
Only by securing absolute control over Piers could he keep Oliver Piers, his cunning uncle, in check.
And marrying Ruby was the quickest and easiest way.
He wouldn’t abandon this effortlessly obtained marriage just for Abigail’s demands.
Abigail looked at Brandon’s resolute gaze, her eyes full of derision. “It seems the second young master never understood the spirit of contract.”
“I only respect contracts written in black and white.”
So he truly didn’t intend to acknowledge it!
Abigail, half-angry and half-amused, said, “Do you believe me? I could send you to heaven with just one injection right now.”
Brandon was already aware of Abigail’s recent exploits at the old mansion. He shrugged. “If you are willing to kill the patient you saved with all your effort, I can accept it as fate. Consider it repaying your debt. Or you could propose another condition.”
“Haha.” Abigail gave a cold laugh. What a proper scoundrel. “It’s good that the second young master remembers I risked my life for you.”
“I don’t dare to forget.” Brandon couldn’t forget; the scene in the lab seemed etched in his mind, surfacing unexpectedly. Seeing Abigail’s anger, his emotions were complicated.
He knew better than anyone the relationship between Ruby Green and Abigail. But now was not the time for impulsiveness.
Brandon always maintained his calm and wouldn’t act rashly at critical moments.
But his vow not to forget was sincere.
Unfortunately, Abigail didn’t need it.
What she wanted was for Ruby not to have her way. If she couldn’t achieve her goal through Brandon, she would have to target Ruby herself. Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Should she really maim her?
The Piers family probably wouldn’t want to marry a cripple, right?
Brandon seemed to guess Abigail’s thoughts. “I don’t want any accidents to befall my fiancée before the engagement banquet.”
“What if something does happen?” Abigail provocatively stared at the man on the hospital bed.
Brandon’s thin lips curled slightly, but he didn’t answer; the contempt in his expression was evident.
Abigail stared at that monster’s face, anger bubbling within her, especially at the thought that this man might really love that woman, Ruby Green. She felt it a waste of his handsome face and his captivating amber eyes.
Why did she save this man?
Were the dead not quiet enough, or was being a single mom not noble enough?
“Since that’s the case, I’ll change my request.” Abigail said, suddenly picking up a fruit knife from the side table and giving Brandon a slight smile.
Brandon felt a chill at Abigail’s sudden smile. Then he saw her raise the fruit knife towards him.
Brandon raised an eyebrow. Was Abigail trying to kill him?
Abigail ignored him, her smile growing brighter. She glanced at the perfectly symmetrical room, then suddenly slashed the knife down on the bedcover.
The quilt was torn at the corner.
Brandon frowned slightly.
Abigail continued to smile, walked over to the sofa, and heavily slashed one corner of the symmetrical sofas.
Brandon’s brow twitched involuntarily.
Abigail turned to smile at him, then walked towards the curtains.
With another tearing sound, the curtain was slashed diagonally, but Abigail didn’t stop.
Brandon’s breathing became unsteady. His usually gentlemanly, harmlessly handsome face started to break little by little.
