Chapter 491
C491 – The Mercenary Team the Vine Monster That Was Killed
Without hesitation, Jiang Hao made a snap decision. He turned and gave Xiao Soong a reassuring pat, instructing him firmly.
“Xiao Soong, stay put right here. If anyone shows up, just hide!”
Xiao Soong was quite large, and the firearms those people carried posed a significant threat to him.
“Yuanba, we need to move fast!”
With that, Jiang Hao dashed ahead with urgency.
Lee Yuanba was right on his heels. Xiao Soong, having ingested the Vital Essence, had grown increasingly intelligent, cleverly concealing itself within the distant thicket.
Before long, Jiang Hao and Lee Yuanba had stealthily made their way closer.
They observed the vine creature thrashing wildly, its fangs out and claws flailing. The people kept their distance, methodically severing the creature’s tentacles with precision.
Yet the vine creature was powerless, consumed by a boundless sense of frustration and rage as it continued to bellow.
Behind the squad of four, two men stood—one a refined young master, the other a sword-bearing middle-aged man. They exuded an air of nobility that set them apart from the average person.
The mission to clear the area pressed on, and countless vine tentacles were severed, their sap scattering across the ground.
Eventually, all the tentacles had been cut, and the group began to close in on the vine creature’s core.
Jiang Hao and Lee Yuanba discreetly trailed behind them.
The gunfire ceased, and they came upon a ten-meter-tall vine monster, its two-meter girth covered in broken tentacles.
The vine creature had begun to take on a vaguely human form, reminiscent of the tree monsters from comic books—as if it had somehow acquired a soul.
“Shhh…”
The vine monster swayed and writhed, its roars filled with fury.
But with its tentacles all severed, it was utterly helpless.
The others, rifles in hand, encircled the creature.
The mercenaries stepped aside, allowing the elder and the younger to approach the vine monster.
The young man, with his aura of distinction, looked on impassively at the nearly incapacitated vine creature and spoke in a detached tone.
“Uncle Ming, let’s end this swiftly!” he declared before turning and stepping back.
The middle-aged man cradling a sword at his side responded with deference, “As you wish, Eldest Young Master!”
He then cast a commanding glance at the mercenaries encircling them. “Fall back ten meters!”
At his command, the mercenaries, not daring to delay, promptly acknowledged, “Understood, sir!”
As the mercenaries withdrew, Uncle Ming unsheathed his sword, which emitted a chilling gleam. Clasping a spell in his hand, he closed his eyes, and his sword began to radiate a brilliant golden light.
”Whoosh!”
His eyes snapped open, and from them, two beams of golden light burst forth. With a powerful stomp, he leaped skyward.
With a thunderous cry, he bellowed, “Sword of the Divine Path!”
A streak of gold sliced through the air, cleaving the vine creature’s head and piercing it in an instant.
“Boom!”
An explosion thundered forth.
“Aaah!”Nôv(el)B\\jnn
A piercing scream echoed across the land, its psychic assault causing the nearby mercenaries to wince in agony, dropping their weapons and clutching their heads.
Uncle Ming, bearing the brunt of the attack, felt blood trickle from the corner of his mouth.
Suddenly, a verdant beam of light burst from the vine monster, transforming into a streak that fled into the distance.
“The heart of a millennium-old tree—Young Master, pursue it!” Uncle Ming bellowed.
At his call, the young master sprang into action, giving chase.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts, Jiang Hao watched with a puzzled look as the emerald light streaked directly toward him.
