Chapter 303: Birthday Party
Chapter 303: Birthday Party
While Yao Ran waited for Long Yu to tell her what was going on, time passed without her noticing.
The next day, Yao Ran woke up late. She had spent the previous night speculating about what her boyfriend might be planning and couldn't fall asleep until late.
After taking a shower, she headed to the dining room as usual. However, just as she left the living area, Sima Chennan appeared with Xiao Baozi, the child she had saved from the villa ruins.
The two children, who were the same age, had quickly become best friends. Hand in hand, they ran toward her excitedly. Yao Ran, not particularly close with children, was surprised to see them actively approaching her today.
She squatted down, looked at them, and asked, "What are you two doing here?"
Sima Chennan replied, "Aunty, my mother said she needs your help in the side hall."
Hearing this, Yao Ran took a few milk candies out of her space, using her pocket as a cover, and handed them to the children.
She gently patted their heads and said, "Thank you for letting me know. These candies are for you two, but remember-only eat one a day."
"Yay~! Thank you, Aunty!" Sima Chennan and Xiao Baozi excitedly cheered in their sweet voices.
The children, holding the candies tightly, ran off to play. After they left, Yao Ran headed to the side hall.
Along the way, she frowned slightly and muttered, "It's too quiet. Where is everyone?"
As she walked into the side hall, she suddenly sensed something amiss. Instinctively, she reached for the dagger at her waist but suddenly paused, remembering that everyone here was her friend.
Pop!
Just as she hesitated, something burst out on top of her head and landed on her. A moment later, cheers sounded in the dark side hall.
"Happy birthday, Yao Ran!"
After the blessing, the lights came on, and Yao Ran saw that everyone was there.
Coming back to her senses, she looked around the fully decorated side hall in surprise and saw her boyfriend, carrying a birthday cake, walking toward her with a loving smile on his handsome face.
Standing in front of her, Long Yu said, "Ran Ran, make a wish."
Yao Ran stared at him in a daze for a few seconds before closing her eyes to make a wish. When she opened them, she blew out the candles, watching the smoke rise from the burning wicks. Noticing the decorations and food placed on the long table, Yao Ran realized that Long Yu and the others had been secretly organizing a birthday party for her. Besides her grandfather and adoptive grandparents, this was the first time anyone had made such an effort for her birthday.
Seeing her quietly staring around, Long Yu placed the cake on the long table. He then holding her hand, leaned in and kissed her cheek.
"Happy birthday, Ran Ran. Thank you for being born on this day 21 years ago." He whispered softly.
Yao Ran looked up at him, her eyes shining, and she smiled, "Thank you, A Yu."
Huang Qian coughed and said, "Alright. Since Yao Ran has blown out the candles and made her wish, let's eat. I'm starving."
Yao Ran looked at him and the others, then smiled warmly, "Thank you, everyone."
Shi Xuan chuckled and teased, "If you want to thank someone, you should thank Captain later. He spent two days preparing for the party. He also made those paper petals himself and baked your birthday cake."
Listening to Shi Xuan's teasing, Yao Ran looked at his boyfriend and said sincerely, "A Yu, thank you. I'm very happy."
Looking at her happy face, Long Yu felt that the risk he took to find supplies for today's party was worth it.
He hugged his girlfriend and said, "Let's start the party."
With Long Yu taking the lead, everyone began chatting and enjoying the food. Standing on the side, He Yufan watched Yao Ran smiling happily as she joined the others.
"If Chairman Yao could see how happy the Eldest Young Lady is right now, he must feel relieved." He said.
"Mhm." Li Chengjun agreed with a nod.
After a moment of silence, He Yufan said, "Uncle Gu, Brother Chengjun, let's eat together."
Gu Zhaoyan nodded, "Alright."
That day, everyone enjoyed a rare moment of leisure and good food. In the evening, Long Yu walked Yao Ran back to her bedroom and handed her a small black box.
"What is this?" Yao Ran asked curiously.
Long Yu smiled and replied, "This is your birthday present. Open it after I leave."
Her curiosity grew, but Yao Ran nodded obediently. "Alright."
After gazing at her for a moment, Long Yu kissed her gently and said, "Good night, Ran Ran. Don't forget to dream of me."
"Good night, A Yu."
After sharing another lingering kiss, Yao Ran entered her bedroom. Sitting on the bed, she carefully opened the small box only to find a diamond engagement ring resting on a soft red -cloth.
She froze for a second before picking up the ring to examine it closely. Her and Long Yu's names were engraved on the inside of the band. Judging from the uneven carving, it must have been carved by Long Yu himself.
Seeing this, Yao Ran's eyes reddened with emotion.
She chuckled softly, slipping the ring onto her left ring finger, and muttered, "He should have
put this on me."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
After Yao Ran's birthday, everyone returned to their daily tasks. Days passed, and the temperature finally stabilized at 25 degrees Celsius, giving the survivors a chance to breathe
and time to restock food and water.
Two weeks later, Yuan Rihui suddenly visited them.
Sitting around a long table in the side hall, Yao Ran looked at Yuan Rihui's smiling face and asked, "You didn't come here just to see how we are doing, did you?"
Yuan Rihui grinned and replied, "I can't hide anything from you. As you guessed, I'm here not
only to visit but also to bring you a business opportunity."
Hearing this, Yao Ran's interest was piqued.
"What kind of business?" she asked.
