MY 10,000× DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM

Chapter 52 Godfrey

Godfrey

The instant Lenax spoke, his body disappeared.

When it did, Christopher noticed that the strange force that was preventing runes from manifesting had diminished somewhat.

'He was one of the ones carrying the strange cubes. So if I can take out the rest of them, then I'll be able to allow all the runes to return and everyone can function properly.' The moment Christopher had that thought, there was a pitiful cry and everyone looked up to see a massive twin tailed bird falling from the sky, its large body having been bisected in half.

At the point of its death, the force holding the runes back weakened even more, to the point where everyone else was able to notice.

"The Mana…" The second Prince mumbled and stared at his hands.

"It's not quite back. But, it's getting there." The Emperor muttered and stared at Christopher.

Meanwhile, Paul was staring at Christopher with wide eyes, shock evident on his face.

'It's him… that man… it's Christopher!' He shouted internally.

The moment Christopher summoned Scarlet, Paul knew it was him. The blade looked a little different from when he'd seen it originally, so he was slightly doubtful. But the moment Christopher used the Mirage sword style, he knew it was him. It had to be.

'But how? How is he so strong? So much stronger than the last time we met.' He held his chin with his hands that were shaking almost feverishly.

For so long he'd tried to get Christopher under his wing as he believed him to have incredible talent. But who knew that he wasn't just talented, but also terrifyingly strong.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

'It makes so much sense now. The Dreamer appeared around the same time Christopher did, both of them displaying unnatural power with seemingly no background or backers. Making their existences a mystery. I should have known.' Paul felt both awed and incredibly stupid for his oversight.

'But how? How was he able to bypass Felicia's eye? His strength never exceeded what he had shown us before. Was this why he was always so confident and never seemed to be impressed by anything we owned? Because he had all these miraculous items and strength that could easily subjugate a dragon for crying out loud?!' He was on the verge of pulling his hair out as he stared at the masked figure staring up with his arms folded.

'Just who are you Christopher?'

'Dammit! Dammit! DAMMIT!' Godfrey cursed in his mind as he desperately pulled upon his Mana to endure the onslaught of attacks that rained on him and his allies.

'This wasn't supposed to happen! This wasn't a variable in the plans! Just what is this?!' He thought with disbelief as he just barely managed to avoid another one of the massive branches which crashed into one of his allies and turned them into a bloody mist on impact.

Forget countering, he could barely defend himself.

A scream reached his ears and he spared a glance to see one of the Voidwalkers getting stabbed in the heart by the clone created by that wretch.

Godfrey's eyes burned with hate. This was all his fault!

Godfrey had been working with the Voidwalkers for a very long time. And was considered an informant and thus, was valued greatly by them.

But why would he betray his Empire? After all he was the stronger of his siblings and was pretty much set to inherit the throne in the future.

And even before then, he had everything he could possibly need. Wealth, status, power, resources to increase said power, women, and more. He lived the life of every human. So why was he still on the path to betrayal?

The reason was simple really, he believed the doctrine which the Voidwalkers themselves followed.

The Voidwalkers served an interesting power. A strange force called the Void. Even with his fairly high status, Godfrey had never had a chance to know a large amount about the strange entity.

What he did know though, was that the being known as the Void was terribly powerful. However, such a term was used many times before, so it was hard to grasp just how powerful he was.

Regardless, the Voidwalkers believed that all things began from Oblivion, and were set to return to that state. With the Entity known as the Void being the personification of said Oblivion. And they believed that their job was the bring about the end of things and return all things to Oblivion faster. And only by doing so could they find true peace at the end of death, and not simply fade away into inexistence when the proclaimed end finally arrived.

That's why despite everything he had at his disposal, Godfrey felt as though it didn't matter. After all, all things would fade into Oblivion. What's the point of having all those good things when he was going to die eventually and they would all eventually be eroded by time?

So instead of focusing on all those things, why not look towards his eventual end where he would be one with Oblivion and be granted the true and utter bliss that came with inexistence? No pain, no worries, no greed, no selfishness or need to be selfless. None of that.

However, the requirement for him to achieve any of this in the first place, was to bring many more things to Oblivion. Which also meant causing large amounts of destruction.

He remembered when he'd just joined the Voidwalkers. One of his first tasks was to test whether or not he had the guts to actually join them. After all, when it came to bringing things to Oblivion, they wanted to take EVERYTHING to that point.

So to be sure he wouldn't fold from something as mundane as morality, they made him kill. He recalled one of the first tasks was to have his people kill a family of Cat Demi-Humans. They were completely innocent, but he killed them anyway to prove his worth. And a few similar missions later ensured that he was truly devoid of feeling any guilt for his actions, allowing him to be received without any hesitation.

Now this current task was something that had been in the works for quite some time as the Legend Sword Shards were required to put back together a truly fearsome weapon. One so fearsome that if they managed to collect all the Shards and reconstruct the weapon, they'd be able to bring total ruin to this world and let it meet Oblivion. Stay updated via empire

Everything was going smoothly. But then, but then!

'That Bastard just had to ruin everything!!!' Godfrey barely avoided another branch. However there was a momentary lapse in his concentration causing the barrier around his body to briefly flicker.

And the instant it did, a wave of incredibly sharp ice Shards came in and assaulted him. He cursed and twisted his body to avoid them, but only avoided most of them as the rest embedded themselves deep into his flesh.

He groaned as frost energy began to invade his body and he struggled to purge it while at the same time dodging the devastating branches.

By now, most of his allies had been killed and only a handful of them remained. And it was only those who were carrying the strange item known as the Empty Cube that were still alive. And even then it wasn't all of them.

Besides exuding a force that rendered all surrounding Mana null. The cubes also had a passive effect which allowed the user to become resistant to magical attacks to a certain extent. So realistically, Godfrey shouldn't have been struggling as much as he was currently.

However, the Mana within these attacks was simply so potent, and the effects of the Empty Cube couldn't manifest properly. As such, the attacks were still as deadly as normal which was a huge problem for him.

Then suddenly, he saw a brief flash, and before he could react, the barrier he had erected around himself shattered causing his eyes to widen.

In front of him, a third clone he didn't even know was there was above him. Pitch black sickles that gave off a dastardly Aura in its hand.

The close blurred and appeared behind Godfre, and before he could even register what had happened, countless cuts appeared on his body, the powerful armour he wore being utterly ignored and durable bodyweight treated like paper.

The clone then grabbed his leg and swung him towards the ground like a slingshot.

The world blurred and a moment later, he felt himself hit the floor and binding pain exploded throughout his body causing a strangled cry to leave his mouth.

He tried to move but failed to do so as the clone had shredded the ligaments in his limbs. So he tried to use magic, but that was when a powerful restrictive force descended on him, rendering him immobile.

His breaths were frantic as he moved his neck and soon saw the source of his immobility. Calmly walking towards him, a girl who didn't look to be a day over 17 based on her build could be seen. She wore a mask, but the long tail and furred ears on her head signified her race as a Cat Demi-Human.
