Chapter 34: Sexy Teacher vs. Innocent Campus Belle?!
Spring Wind High School—Midday.
“Su Bai, come to my office for a moment,” said Li Meng.
Su Bai sighed and stood up. He had just been assigned to the advanced class along with the other top 30 students, and Li Meng, the formidable leader of the senior grade, had taken on the role of their homeroom teacher.
Still, Su Bai wasn’t particularly thrilled about being called to the office. While his consistent first-place rankings and perfect scores afforded him some leeway, the frequency of these summons made him feel like he was walking on thin ice.
As he followed Li Meng to the office, he overheard her colleague, Teacher Pan Shuai, greeting her.
“Li Meng, I brought you some homemade snacks. Try them!” Pan Shuai said enthusiastically, handing over a neatly wrapped package.
Li Meng glanced at the gift, hesitated briefly, then accepted it. Rejecting it outright would only embarrass her colleague.
But before Pan Shuai could strike up further conversation, Su Bai entered the office. Pan Shuai, noticing him, quickly retreated to his desk.
“Li Meng, I don’t think I did anything wrong today, did I?” Su Bai asked, feigning innocence.
“Su Bai, even if you can score perfect marks on exams, you still need to pay attention in class. Overconfidence can be dangerous,” Li Meng reprimanded.
“Yes, Ma’am. I’ll make sure to focus more,” Su Bai replied with a cheeky smile.
“Good. Now, let’s get down to business,” Li Meng continued.
“Your problem-solving skills have impressed the entire teaching staff. We’ve been discussing whether you could spare some time during evening self-study sessions to help teach your classmates.”
“Wait, what?” Su Bai blinked in disbelief.
“Yes, you heard me right. I’m asking if you’d be willing to take on this responsibility,” Li Meng clarified.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
“Teacher, I’m just a student. Don’t you think I deserve some kind of compensation?” Su Bai asked, half-jokingly.
“How much do you need? I can discuss it with the principal,” Li Meng offered earnestly.
“It’s not about money,” Su Bai explained. “Let me think about what I want, and I’ll get back to you.”
“Deal,” Li Meng agreed, a satisfied smile on her face.
Before leaving, Su Bai grabbed the snack box from Li Meng’s desk.
“Consider this a down payment,” he joked, ignoring her attempt to protest.
Pan Shuai, watching helplessly, could only swallow his frustration. The snacks were meant for Li Meng, but now they were in Su Bai’s hands.
Back in the classroom, Su Bai handed the snack box to his deskmate, Geng Geng.
“Here, I brought you something,” he said casually.
As Geng Geng opened the box, her eyes widened at the sight of the heart-shaped cookies inside.
“Uh… wow,” Su Bai stammered, realizing how misleading this looked.
“Thanks, Su Bai!” Geng Geng said with a playful grin, carefully setting the box aside.
Su Bai scratched his head, silently cursing himself. This is going to be hard to explain… Thanks a lot, Pan Shuai.
When the lunch bell rang, Qiao Yingzi approached Su Bai.
“Hey, my dad’s taking me out for lunch today. Wanna come with us?”
“Thanks, but I’ll pass. Enjoy your time with your dad,” Su Bai replied.
After Yingzi left, Huang Zhitao appeared, ready to invite Su Bai to the cafeteria. However, before she could say anything, another figure rushed to Su Bai’s side.
“Su Bai, my mom wants to treat you to lunch as a thank-you for helping me with my studies,” said Wang Yidi, her cheeks slightly flushed.
Huang Zhitao, overhearing this, froze in surprise.
Wang Yidi’s invitation caught Su Bai off guard. He had only helped her solve a few problems in class, yet she seemed to credit him entirely for her recent success.
“I appreciate the offer, but I already have plans for lunch,” Su Bai replied diplomatically, not wanting to create any awkwardness.
