Level Up: Voidwalker

Atlas stood atop the hill, his gaze fixed on the southern horizon. An ominous mountain range loomed in the distance, its jagged peaks stretching endlessly into the sky. The sight filled him with foreboding as he thought, "It will take us weeks to reach that."

While staring into the distance, Nulia spoke as she appeared beside him, ''We will get going soon. Atek needs to rest, and you need to recover your mana.''

He nodded in agreement before responding, ''I need about ten minutes, but I think we may have visitors.''

''What do you mean?'' Nulia questioned as she scanned their surroundings.

Atlas pointed toward the path ahead, his voice unbothered. "A group of Chaos Mutants and other creatures are lying in wait. They plan to attack once we begin our journey."

He glanced at her, noticing how her blue eyes widened in surprise, only for a confident smile to follow. A spark of excitement lit up her face. "Let them try," she said. "Atek and your monsters can ambush them from behind while they focus on us.

''Sounds good to me,'' Atlas replied with an excited grin. ''We can beat them, but we must be careful when fighting these creatures.''

The young woman nodded, ''Yes, you're right, and it seems like you're learning during our trek.''

Then, Atlas decided to use some monsters he hadn't done so far. With a wave of his hand, he summoned a dozen Dark Termites from the Shattered Chasm Dungeon; the giant insects appeared and greeted him with a nod.

''Burrow under the ground and circle the enemies below,'' he ordered with a glint in his azure eyes. ''Wait for my command to attack.''

After that, he quickly downed three mana potions before waiting for its mana to recover some more before summoning dozens of Howling Ghouls, which shocked Nulia and Atek, but they said nothing while watching the creatures.

Once all the monsters appeared, he ordered them to charge at the hiding creatures. The horrifying Ghouls rushed down the hill while letting out creepy howls. As the humanoid creatures got close, a battle soon erupted as Chaos Knights and Mutated Humans charged against his monsters.

As the two sides crashed together, Nulia transformed into her Frostbear form and charged into the fray, followed by Atek, who let out a roar before pouncing on a Chaos Knight and crushing its helmet with his jaws.

While this happened, Atlas started casting Void Arrows and Bullets into the creatures. The azure projectiles sliced through the air before burrowing into the Chaos Monsters' chests, causing them to explode.

'Looks like they're weak against my void magic,' he thought with a big smile.

That's when he spotted Nulia savagely fighting a group of knights. Her large claws tore them in two as Atek stayed close by. While this happened, the Dark Termites emerged and slammed into the enemy's rear.

Atlas wove through the chaos, casting spells as he evaded the lunges of the Mutated Humans. As one of the hideous creatures lunged at him, he sidestepped and severed its head.

Black blood erupted like a fountain, but he paid it no mind, his focus unwavering. Then, Atlas summoned Nala and the Dreadmaw Lions, who jumped out of a portal and flew over him, 'This should turn the tide in our favor,' he thought.

Nala let out a fierce roar before biting a Chaos Knight in half. Just after that, Atlas spotted more monsters joining the fight against them. He looked toward Nulia and Atek before ordering all his summoned creatures to protect them.

This left him alone, but he quickly sprinted toward them while skidding under a sword swing. Atlas felt the wind against his face, causing him to cast Void Blast at the knights. The spell sent it crashing through the creatures behind it.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

As Atlas drew closer to Nulia, a colossal Chaos Troll suddenly loomed between them, forcing him to halt. A surge of determination ignited within him. He pointed his hand to the ground and unleashed a powerful Void Blast, launching himself high.

"Here we go," he muttered while excitement fueled him.

When high enough, Atlas cast another Void Blast that propelled him directly toward the towering troll. Spinning like a whirlwind, he readied his fist, channeling his energy into a new spell.

"Void Smash!" when his punch connected, a thunderous clap reverberated, sending the troll hurtling backward as if struck by a storm.

But the force was too much; Atlas felt a sharp pain as his arm snapped under the strain. Half unconscious as he soared toward Nulia, she opened her maw wide and caught him mid-flight, her powerful legs carrying them away from danger.

While fleeing through the dark jungle, Nulia heard the howls of Chaos Monsters echo, their twisted shapes clawing through the chaos with a terrifying speed. She let out a guttural growl before she created a path of frost, slowing the monsters behind them.

''I can hold them off for a moment!'' she roared, facing their pursuers.

As the nearest monster lunged, Nulia reared back on her powerful hind legs, swinging her massive paw and sending a wave of ice crashing toward the creatures. The ice spread like a tidal wave, freezing several monsters in their tracks.

Seeing the situation, he lifted his broken arm and spammed Void Bomb and Barrage at the pursuing monsters. Explosions quickly tore through their ranks, allowing them to escape as she climbed up the side of a mountain using her claws.

Halfway up, the pain took Atlas and knocked him out while his body repaired itself. When Nulia noticed this, she laughed, 'Stupid boy, you always push yourself, but thank you for helping us escape.'

Following that, they reached a cave, where Atek guarded the entrance alongside Nala, whom the cat was interested in. The lioness growled at the Frostfang. Nulia giggled at their interaction before starting a fire after placing him down.

A few hours later, he woke up with a bad headache, causing him to pull out a health potion and down it. Atlas felt better as his arm was stitched together, bones snapped, and flesh mended.

'That was stupid, but at least I unlocked another spell,' he mused before sitting up and rubbing his head.

Atlas glanced to the right and noticed Nulia sitting in front of the fire while meditating while Nala and Atek were sitting at the cave's entrance, 'So the lioness is here? That's good.'

Following that, he stood up and stretched his body before stretching. Once done, Atlas approached the entrance and started creating the Dark One Runes, and Nala nudged her head against him.

''Hello girl,'' he said while stroking through the lioness's soft fur, causing the big cat to purr in happiness. ''Thank you for helping me back there.''

Once Atlas pampered the Dreadmaw Queen, he returned to the fire where Nulia was sitting as she spoke, ''We have to give it some time for the horde to move on; it's the same in the Northern Wastes.''

He nodded in understanding before pulling out a Fores Boar Meat Box and handing it to the young woman who smiled at him, ''Thank you, Atlas; once I get a chance, I'll cook for you.''

''Sounds good to me,'' he replied while eating the last Orc Meat Box just as he realized there wasn't any left.

The two began digging into the hot meal as Nala and Atek curled up near the entrance, keeping watch to ensure their safety. After finishing their food, Atlas unpacked the tent and sleeping bag, preparing their camp for the night.

While doing that, Nulia started meditating, giving him enough time to try the Void Realm again. Atlas got comfortable, activated the skill, and appeared on the plateau, where the Warrior Golems appeared.

They charged at him with wild abandon, swinging their massive stone fists, forcing Atlas to dodge their heavy blows. In response, he quickly cast Void Infusion on his blades, then sliced through the stone creatures' bodies.

Atlas watched as the monster crashed to the ground, then swiftly turned his focus to the next Warrior Golem. Without hesitation, he unleashed a Void Barrage, blasting the creature away with a powerful surge of energy.

He continued fighting for hours and managed to clear some space. Atlas backed off while checking on the monster total to see how many he got rid of during this battle, causing him to think, 'Shouldn't be too much.'

He killed a few Golem Commanders and was sent flying into the water below, only to wake up with a yelp. This caused Nulia to open her beautiful blue eyes as she spoke, ''Were you in that place again?''

Atlas nodded before answering in a fed-up voice, ''Yes, been trying to get the total down, but it's getting extremely boring now.''

The young woman giggled, ''How about I come with you next time? With the two of us, we can clear loads of monsters.''
