Chapter 1146 Grand Gathering (7)
Ames, Aron, Cade, and Euan arrived just after Aillos and Kyran finished their conversation. Eustace and a few servants also came with them and prepared some snack and tea on the table for them.
Aron and Cade did not show it but when they finally saw Kyran they were relieved. This was because it might have only been more than two years since they saw him in person, but the news of his involvement with The Emperor of the Higher Realm made them restless.
Their restlessness escalated when True Void declared that he lost his connection with Kyran. Aron, Cade and the rest of the Regis, along with Kyran's people were at a loss after that. For the first time in a while they felt despair. Aron and Cade could not allow their people to see them weak, though. Which was why they kept their emotions in check to assure their people.
Fortunately, Ames's presence and her commitment in finding Kyran also contributed in assuring them. Cyneah's confident declaration that Kyran had found his way in the Higher Realm also lifted some of their burden. Without a doubt, her words also confirmed how much she trust Kyran. This in turn assured Aron, Cade and Rin that Cyneah would become someone who could support Kyran selflessly.
On the other hand, there was still a noticeable awkwardness between Cyneah and Euan. Nonetheless, their relationship improved after Kyran disappeared and they had more opportunities to interact.
But putting aside all those things, Aron, Cade, and Euan understood why Ames told them to come with her. Rin was also called, but she chose not to go and only gave an excuse of being busy preparing Cyneah and Kyran's clothes for tomorrow's gathering.
Ames did not insist Rin to come. There would be plenty of times for all of them to gather, anyway. Besides, it was a little unfair that Kyran's mother would be present when Cyneah did not have even a representative.
Aillos did not really mind who could come, he just wanted to have both side to be present when they discussed the matter of Cyneah's protection.
Aron left the talking to Cade and Euan. In fact, other than them the rest only served as witnesses.
Meanwhile, Cyneah could barely contain her embarrassment. But she endured because she did not want anyone to have the wrong idea.
Overall, the conversation between Cade and Euan went smoothly because it was not the first time that they talked about marriage between Cyneah and Kyran. In fact, before Cyneah was cursed, and got swapped with her essence to live as the princess, Euan had always pestered Cade about marrying her to the Regis.
After Cade and Euan finished their talk, Aillos continued by telling him what he intended to do tomorrow. When they heard his plan, they were all shocked. Even Ames gaped at her Father in confusion.
Kyran was probably the only one who looked unfazed. Of course, he was not entirely unaffected. But he understood why Aillos came up with that and agreed that it was the fastest way to ensure the other dragon tribes would not mess with his people. Read new chapters at empire
Aron, Cade, and Euan also understood Aillos's reason. Nonetheless, that did not stop them from being surprised and worried.
Aillos concluded their meeting by telling them he would open the Ancestral Land of the Dragons after the Grand Gathering. After that, he left, saying he still needed to attend a luncheon with the other patriarchs.
"Opening the Ancestral Land of the Dragons…" Cade muttered in amazement and looked at Ames. "I never thought a day would come that such sacred ground would be open for a Regis."
Ames gave a faint smile and shook her head, "There is nothing special about that place. In fact, when it was created, it was fashioned similarly to the Regis's Ancestral Land. Except, the ones resting in the latter were humans, and the former dragons."
The dragons were not united back then. Only after Aillos became the head of all dragons did they create an Ancestral Land to bury all their dead.
"Will you be okay tomorrow?" Cade asked, directing the question to Kyran, who had been silent throughout the meeting.
Kyran nodded, "For now, this is the fastest way to ensure everyone's safety."
"If you're only doing it because you want to protect everyone, then I suggest you think it over," Aron said, giving him a stern look. "Our family are no pushovers."
"I'm sorry, grandfather," Kyran lowered his head in apology. "That's not why I agreed to do it. At the moment, Lord Aillos's aides have their eyes on me. They believed that among the Regis, I am someone the family values even without my possession of the Draconic core or the Void core."
The reason this was the case, was due to Kyran's proficiency in Array. After all, possessing the Draconic core or the Void core had nothing to do with one's proficiency in Array. While it was true that having Void magic was quite convenient to an Array Saint, it was not something that could affect his ability in formulating Array Calculations.
"Chances of them suggesting to their tribe patriarchs to test me is high," Kyran told them.
"Actually, even if they don't make such suggestions, after Lord Aillos makes an announcement, those patriarchs will seek you out using their young talents," Euan voiced his opinion.
"Hm," Aron and Cade also agreed with a nod.
Ames sighed and shook her head helplessly, "Ah… politics. I hate politics."
She stood up and looked at Cyneah, "Sisi, come with me. Let's leave these guys alone."
Cyneah looked up in confusion and asked, "Is it alright if I go with you?"
"Don't worry. Since Father did not tell us to take you back to your room, then it means he is fine with you coming with me."
"But…" she looked toward Kyran, as if asking for his opinion. In a way, Aillos did allow her to leave the building as long as she stayed close to Kyran. Although that was for tomorrow's gathering.
"You're wearing the necklace, right?" Kyran asked, even though he already sensed the energy from the necklace.
Cyneah nodded, "Yes, I am."
"Then it's okay," he replied with a smile. "If something happens, just call me."
"Alright."
Kyran did not want Cyneah to leave. But because she was like a prisoner staying in the building, he thought it best to have Lady Ames entertain her.
If Ames knew that Kyran just thought of her as a tourist guide for Cyneah, she might have flipped at his atrocity. Fortunately, she could not read minds or did not possess Insight like Aillos and only snorted at Kyran's condescending tone.
"What do you take me for? Since I told her to come with me, then the least I could do is ensure her safety!" Ames refuted before gesturing for Cyneah to follow her.
Cyneah did not see Ames's gesture, but she more or less guessed that the latter was telling her to follow. Thus, she stood up and excused herself before following Ames, who was already making her way out the room.
Once the two left the room, Aron, Cade, Euan, and Kyran continued talking.
This time, they talked about Kyran's plans that Aillos told them in their first day.
Aillos could only tell Aron and Cade the gist of Kyran's plans because the latter had not discussed it in details. Even with Insight, Aillos could not possibly see through everything of Kyran's plans. Thus, he told them to hear all the tedious details to Kyran when he woke up.
"How long will the array formation last?" Aron asked Kyran.
The array formation he was reffering to was the one that allowed them to improve their levels.
"For as long as the magic energy from Coelus's corpse can provide."
"I heard that magic energy is the rawest form of Draconic magic," Euan started. "The formation will probably last for some quite some time."
"I made the formation with maximizing the energy as much as possible. At the same time, I don't want to waste everyone's time in staying in the formation. Which is why I added an enlightenment assistant formula when I drafted the array."
Euan raised his brows in interest, "I did not know such formula existed."
"Me either," Kyran admitted. "I only encountered it in the Tower of the Ancients."
"Hm…" Cade leaned back on his seat thoughtfully. "I heard Lady Ames mentioning such tower. From what I understand, that tower is similar to the Tower of Tribulations in the Lower Realm."
"Tower of Tribulations?" Euan asked, looking at them in confusion.
"Right… you haven't been there before," Cade said with a wry smile. "To give a brief explanation of that place…."
Cade gave Euan a short description of what the Tower of Tribulations could do. If they were still in the Lower Realm, Cade would not dare tell Euan anything about the tower. But since they were not, he was no longer bound by the tower's secrecy.
"Such a place really existed in the empire?"
"Not only in the empire, a path can open in any location within the Human plane."
"No wonder you guys were able to improve so fast. It is all because of that tower."
"You will have a chance to experience something similar," Kyran assured Euan. He almost called him father-in-law but managed to stop himself, thinking it was inappropriate to call him that at the moment.
"In fact, I plan to take everyone to the Tower of the Ancients after everyone advanced to Sovereign."
