Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 572 Prisoner

Before long, Rain began to receive reports from his friends that they also felt the tremor… while it wasn't that strong, it seemed that the whole kingdom felt it… that was weird considering that with their descriptions, they felt the same level on the tremors.

"That only means one thing… it came from the ocean," Rain thought.

Seadrei has been fighting with the sea dragon in the last month, so perhaps he used some hidden technique that affected all the waters in the region… Still, Seara didn't say anything when she felt the tremor, so she didn't feel his mana. Unfortunately, on the same day, Seadir showed up at Rain's home… half patched up and covered in bruises while breathing roughly.

"... Father was captured," Seadir declared.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

In the next moment, Seara's eyes turned white and she passed out… that was why Rain didn't want to do anything dangerous before six months passed after Sealyn's birth. He knew that in that stage, women can be particularly sentimental and prone to some mood swings thanks to the change in her hormones. Fortunately, Rain easily caught her and avoided her fall.

"Was that tremor the effect of something he did it?" Rain asked while he put Seara on a chair to rest. "Why capture him? Killing him wouldn't be easy?"

"You sure are calm about this…" Terra said while frowning. "Seara will get mad when she wakes up."

"Well, he had it coming… you can only keep underestimating the enemies for so long before that comes to bite him in the ass."

"... Dad killed several of the sea dragons in the last few months, while they were more furious than before, he didn't have much of a hard time against them," Seadir explained while Terra was healing him. "However, he began to show some weird signs after a while, he looked more quiet and sometimes pale. Last week, he had a hard time fighting three sea dragons even though that didn't happen before."

That was the level of strength that Rain wanted to achieve in the next few years… fighting three sea dragons without breaking a sweat, not like Seadrei could actually sweat underwater. There was also the fact that his spear was probably the most powerful underwater weapon in the entire world. Regardless, that sudden change in behavior was truly weird.

"Did he eat the sea dragons?" Rain asked.

"We all ate a bit… but we all looked still fine, his condition only worsened when the stopped eating when we assumed that the dragons could have poisoned themselves," Seadir explained. "Well, they could use poison in the first place."

Rain and the others ate the sea dragons as well, the ones he brought home. Their meat tasted awesome, and they felt full of energy after eating it. At the same time, before the meat could go bad, they gave to the soldiers. Not only they began to train more since they recovered more energy, the unusual ingredients also made the Cook's Path level up insanely fast.

It was already at level forty two and that was probably the reason why Rain was still ahead of Gila in that path.

"What happened to the dragons once he was captured? How things happened exactly?" Rain asked.

"Father had just defeated two sea dragons when he suddenly began to tremble… we could tell that he was suffering and when he was attacked by three sea dragons, he somehow repelled two of them, but the other one swallowed him," Seadin explained. "After that, the ten remaining sea dragons left in a hurry and we didn't have the chance to check if Father was struggling to free himself."

"Do you have any idea where their base is?" Rain asked. "I suppose they don't live in normal houses like us. I also want to know the reason why you came to me instead of raising an army to free your father, but I feel like I won't like to hear the answer." Read exclusive chapters at empire

"Few people know that Father was captured, and it will be total unrest when they learn of that… some people might try to make him lose influence since you know how he is," Seadir explained while rubbing his eyes. "Most of our families power comes from the fact that majority of the sea folk respect us, but that might change with this."

"Oh boy, how I do love politics," Rain said while rolling his eyes.

Rain already knew how Seadrei's spear worked, it essentially worked in a similar way to the dungeons. It only drew the mana from the entire ocean, but also from the people of those around them. Mainly the generals, so basically, the strength of the sea folk was the strength of their sovereign.

If Seadrei losses support, he will grow weaker as well, and in that situation, he might die since he is a prisoner, and if he survives, he might be overthrown if someone defeats him. That was the downside of being a leader like he is.

"Well, knowing how big he is, it will take some time for him to be digested, we don't have to hurry," Rain said and then Terra punched him on the side since those words made Seadir sweat cold. "He is a tough guy, relax… this will also serve as a good lesson for him. He might have obtained power, but there are no absolutes in this world."

In the end, Rain decided that he had to move as soon as possible and before Seara wakes up since he couldn't let her go with him when she had to look after Sealyn.

"Terra, I will leave things with you here… take the warriors to the dungeon and make them fight there using as little energy as possible," Rain declared. "You will have to gain some time convincing Seara to stay as well. I will handle this alone."

"You could at least give me some ideas on how to stop her…" Terra said and then sighed.
