I Only Tame Dragons

Chapter 139 Taming the Storm

In a flash, Seraphina was there, her massive blade intercepting the creature's deadly strike. The clash sent a spray of ice and sparks into the air as she forced the hawk back. "Go now!" she yelled, her voice resolute.

Dawnfire seized Aria's arm, dragging her toward the exit, where Velvet and Fiora had already made it through. Together, they scrambled to safety, relief washing over them as the barrier signaled their passage.

"Horizon, you're next!" Seraphina called, her blade raised in preparation for another strike. "Go now!"

"Alright, I'm outta here!" Nyx quipped as she darted toward the exit, only to pause when she noticed Horizon hadn't moved. Hovering just above him, she frowned.

"What's your deal? She told you to go!"

"Seraphina, you go," Horizon replied, his eyes fixed on the advancing ice hawk. His tone was calm, unshaken. "I'll handle this thing."

Nyx's wings faltered mid-beat. "Are you insane?" she asked, incredulous.

Before Seraphina could interject, her form began to shimmer and fade, her presence steadily vanishing into thin air.

"What's happening?" she demanded, her voice laced with confusion.

Horizon turned to her, a knowing look in his eyes. "Your teammates made it out, which means your guild, Wingless Valkyrie, has won the first challenge. I think the rules only require one member to reach the exit for victory. Since your guild already secured the win, you're being automatically removed from this dimension."

Seraphina blinked in realization, her blade lowering as she began to dematerialize completely. "I hate that you're right," she muttered then she looked seriously at Horizon. "Horizon, make sure that you made it out there alive!" she shouted before disappearing.

With her gone, Horizon gripped his weapon tightly, his eyes locking onto the Ice Hawk. The battlefield was eerily silent except for the sound of Nyx hovering nearby.

"Are you seriously staying behind?" Nyx asked, disbelief evident in her voice. "What's your plan? Take that thing down? Your stats are nowhere near enough to face it. If you were me, I'd understand, but you're not—and all you're going to do is get yourself killed!"

Horizon didn't look at her, his focus on the Ice Hawk. "That thing has dragon blood inside it. I think that's a halfbreed Dragon Ice Hawk."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Wait . . . don't tell me you're planning to tame that thing?" Nyx asked, her voice dripping with disbelief.

" . . ." Horizon didn't reply.

Nyx sighed dramatically, muttering to herself as she flew off. "You're the most reckless idiot I've ever met. But fine, suit yourself. I'll be over here, away from all the death and destruction."

"Aren't you going to help me?" Horizon called after her.

"My current stats are less than yours," Nyx shot back. "What do you expect me to do? Stare it to death?"

Horizon rolled his eyes. "Forget it. I'll come up with a plan to defeat it and make it mine."

"Good luck, then, you stubborn fool."

With that, she disappeared behind a large icicle, leaving Horizon to face the icy behemoth alone. His lips curled into a grin as he raised his blade, ready to take down the Dragon Ice Hawk and tame it.

The battle between Horizon and the Dragon Ice Hawk was a spectacle of elemental fury, deathly magic, and unrelenting power.

Horizon stood tall, his mind sharp and focused. His hands moved in fluid motions as he summoned his powerful allies, the Dracolich and the Wisteria Dragon.

The moment the Dracolich appeared, the air around them grew cold, the skeletal dragon's ominous presence towering over the battlefield. Its eerie, green flames flickered in its eye sockets as it roared a chilling challenge at the hawk.

Beside it, the Wisteria Dragon unfurled its massive wings, sending a wave of petals drifting through the air. The delicate petals, shimmering with lavender light, began to fill the space, each one releasing a sweet, intoxicating scent.

The fragrance was pleasant, though—it was toxic. As the petals floated across the battlefield, the scent spread in waves, giving all sorts of debuffs, poisoning, paralyzing, and confusing anyone who breathed it in.

Even the Dragon Ice Hawk, with its high defenses and immunity to some debuffs, was not entirely immune to all of the Wisteria's Dragon Debuffs.

The hawk's massive form slowed, and a faint greenish hue washed over its feathers as the poison seeped in.

But the Ice Hawk was no ordinary creature—it was a force of nature, and it was far from willing to go down without a fight. With a fierce screech, it shot into the air, its wings slicing through the freezing winds as it unleashed a torrent of icy skills and destructive spells.

Frost and lightning cracked through the air, blasting toward Horizon's forces. The sky seemed to darken as the hawk summoned storms to rage around them, its feathers now coated in a layer of magical energy.

The Dracolich, despite its skeletal form, was a skilled fighter. Its undead nature made it resistant to the hawk's icy breath, and it dove into battle with a vengeance. It lunged at the hawk with terrifying force, its bony claws clashing against the hawk's icy talons.

Each time the two collided, the ground beneath them shook with the force of their struggle. The Dracolich snapped at the hawk's wings, clawing and biting, refusing to let up. The Wisteria Dragon added its own form of attack by creating a barrier of swirling petals that seemed to momentarily shield the Dracolich, giving it the advantage in combat.

Horizon, meanwhile, kept his distance, his eyes narrowed as he observed the battle. He wasn't just relying on brute force—he had a plan. As the hawk retaliated with a barrage of lightning bolts and freezing blasts, Horizon's fingers twitched, and a dark energy began to gather around him. He chanted the incantations for his most potent spells, his voice low but commanding.

"[Unholy]," he muttered, and a dark cloud appeared overhead, swirling with malicious energy. The cloud released bolts of shadowy lightning, striking the Dragon Ice Hawk with vicious force. The hawk screeched, its feathers singeing, but it fought back, barely holding on to its remaining strength.

Not giving the hawk a chance to recover, Horizon followed with a roar: "[Catastrophe]!" A wave of destructive magic radiated outward from him, crashing into the hawk with the power of a thousand storms. The hawk was blasted back, its wings beating furiously to keep itself airborne, but the damage was already done. Its defenses had been chipped away, and with every spell, its health continued to dwindle.

The Dragon Ice Hawk, battered but not broken, retaliated one final time with a desperate, earth-shaking screech. It summoned a massive cyclone of ice and wind, trying to pull Horizon and his minions into its deadly embrace. The Dracolich fought back with its own dark flames, pushing through the blizzard, but it was clear the hawk was reaching its limit.

With a final, devastating blow, Horizon's Dracolich plunged its claws deep into the hawk's side, and the Wisteria Dragon unleashed another wave of its toxic petals into the air. The ice beast's wings faltered, its body wracked with the poison and confusion from the petals, and the final blow came as Horizon released another [Unholy] bolt straight into its heart.

The Dragon Ice Hawk screeched one last time, a sound of fury and defeat, before it crumbled from the skies, its immense body crashing to the ground in a shower of ice and snow.

Horizon stood over the fallen beast, panting but victorious. The Wisteria Dragon let out a triumphant roar, and the Dracolich gave a silent, eerie growl of satisfaction. Together, they had taken down one of the most formidable creatures Horizon had ever faced.

In truth, Horizon wouldn't have emerged victorious if not for the combined strength of the Dracolich and Wisteria Dragon. Their synergy, along with Horizon's unique passive ability that doubled his attack power against dragon-type creatures, had tipped the scales in his favor.

The Dragon Ice Hawk had been formidable, but it had the misfortune of facing the one opponent who was perfectly equipped to bring it down.

Too bad for the hawk, but perfect for Horizon.

"Now, time for the taming," Horizon said, striding confidently toward the fallen beast. The Dragon Ice Hawk lay sprawled on the frozen ground, its massive wings limp and its glimmering feathers dulled. Its once-piercing eyes glared at Horizon with a mix of defiance and exhaustion, though its HP bar was barely visible—hovering dangerously close to zero.

Horizon raised his hand, summoning the magical circle that began the taming ritual. Glowing runes appeared in the air, swirling with a faint golden light as they formed a binding seal over the hawk. Experience new stories on empire

The hawk chirped weakly, but there was no submission in its voice—it was defiant, even now. With a sudden surge of energy, it snapped its beak and released a sharp cry that resonated with its pride.

Horizon didn't flinch. He locked eyes with the hawk, his voice low and commanding. "You've got two choices, bird. Serve me and live—or refuse and die here. Either way, you won't be leaving this battlefield as the victor."
