Chapter 398 Threat
Shane didn't think for long before he decided to nod in agreement since he also understood the shelter's predicament. Using thousands of Zombie Cores in a single transaction was definitely not easy for Lord Han Zhuo since he was also managing hundreds of people, and they all needed gold coins and zombie cores to improve their items.
"I like this offer… I'm open to a trade. What kind of materials do you have?"
Han Zhuo leaned back in his chair, feeling relieved that Shane didn't mind trading with items. He then considered what to offer.
"We specialize in making various explosives. We have dynamite, grenades, and other explosive devices that we mostly use for traps or closing tunnels. We also have some rare herbs and alchemical ingredients that might be of use to you."
They also had alchemists, and they were able to create a weak potion that could at least heal 1 to 5 points in Vitality.
Shane thought for a moment, weighing the options.
"Alright, let's make a deal. I'll provide you with the Light Orbs in a few minutes… For now, I want to exchange for your grenades and some of those rare herbs."
Well, if possible, he wanted to obtain more ingredients he needed to create Armored Dash Potions… After all, this Skill was just too useful… If he had enough resources, he wanted to have all the members of his Clan have such important Skill. Of course, they would have to pay the price for that. At the very least, they should have 100 Loyalty Points on him.
That was actually the reason why he also wanted to create another Shelter. It was because of his Territory Lord effect that boost loyalty points would get activated.
In his mind, the five rescued girls and Lysandra would have to stay in his shelter for a month before he'd provide them with such high-grade potions.
Han Zhuo smiled after hearing Shane's agreement. He was pleased with this transaction and promised himself that he would just give first-rate quality herbs to Shane.
"Excellent. Claude will arrange the details of the trade. Thank you, Shane. Your assistance will be invaluable in defending our shelter."
Shane stood up and shook Han Zhuo's hand. "I'm glad to help. Let's get started."
Soon, Claude escorted Shane to visit their Alchemy Warehouse, where numerous alchemy ingredients and materials were being kept.
Shane spent quite a lot of time here. A total of three hours was spent to gather materials and accumulate items worth 1,250 Zombie Cores.
Of course, he also completed his trade in the Marketplace during this time and gave the 50 Light Orbs to Claude. Apparently, this area doesn't have a single Flasher Zombies at all, making it impossible for them to obtain such precious loot.
Furthermore, it wasn't easy to drop either. Shane knew that those who obtained dozens of Light Orbs were most likely large Clans that were located near the Flasher Zombie Dens.
As Shane left the building, he felt a sense of satisfaction. Not only had he secured valuable resources for himself and his Clan, but he had also forged a beneficial alliance with the Leader of the Long Lodge Shelter.
As for the things he was about to do with his grenades… He also had some thoughts about it.
After all, the location of the abandoned laboratory that he was looking for was most likely underground. He felt that he would probably need dynamites to break numerous rocks and create a path for him.
Of course, that could just be his imagination, but he had numerous experiences in the Fairy Realm Invasion where he wished he had dynamites or explosives to break through things, so he knew he would need these things.

As Shane returned to his room, the others had also returned after going through the shelter. They confirmed that this place had a steady source of food and various resources.
Furthermore, this shelter didn't even need to rely on other shelters and could live for years even if they were isolated. It was because of their small farmland, water wells, and even animal husbandry that was being practiced here.
'So they could sustain their own even without looting Zombies… I like it…' Shane thought as he also liked his own shelter to be capable of self-sustaining.
Their day ended just like this, and Shane was planning to stay here for another day before going to Sector 20…
However, early in the next morning, around 3 am, the stillness of the pre-dawn hours was shattered by the blaring of a siren.
Eeenngggg~
The sound echoed through the Long Lodge Shelter! It was a warning of approaching danger. Shane and his team were jolted awake, their instincts honed by countless battles kicking in immediately.
An announcement was soon made by a person with a skill similar to Titan's Roar…
The urgency in the voice was unmistakable.
"Attention! Fifty or more Winged Zombies are approaching! All combat units, prepare for engagement!"
Shane and his team quickly equipped themselves with their firearms and followed the crowd heading towards the defensive positions.
Although they weren't part of this shelter's guards, they wouldn't allow these Zombies to take over this place.
They wouldn't mind helping as much as they could.
As they moved through the shelter, Shane noticed the elite soldiers of Lord Han Zhuo uncovering the Light Orbs.
Whom~
These orbs, once activated, filled the entire shelter with a bright but gentle light, illuminating every corner and dispelling the shadows where the Winged Zombies could hide.
'Perfect…' Shane thought as he realized that Han Zhuo didn't delay at all and installed these light orbs in several places.
"It's so bright! I didn't expect that we would have such lights prepared."
"Is this the rumored orbs from the Flasher Zombies?"
"This is incredible… It feels like it is already in the morning!"
"Now, we will not have the problems about getting others abducted by these Winged Zombies…"
The civilians were awed as they saw the Light Orbs.
Apparently, these Winged Zombies weren't too stupid. They would actually come at night in order to grab or abduct humans and eat them in different locations instead of staying where they are.
With these light orbs, however, this tactic would no longer work!
Soon, Shane also saw several people carrying their weapons.
The shelter's defenses were impressive.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The elite soldiers, armed with crossbows and other ranged weapons, took their positions along the walls and in the watchtowers. Shane and his team watched as the soldiers prepared for the incoming attack.
Soon, the first wave of Winged Zombies appeared on the horizon, and their bat-like wings flapped as they approached.
The soldiers remained calm and focused.
Under Claude's orders, their crossbows were aimed and ready.
As the zombies drew closer, Claude gave his command to fire!
Whoosh~ Whoosh~
In an instant, the soldiers unleashed a volley of bolts, and each of them hit their target!
Many Winged Zombies fell from the sky, and their bodies crashed to the ground! Of course, these Zombies didn't die just yet and still had to be killed by the ones waiting on the ground.
On the other hand, the Winged Zombies that weren't critically hit were still able to get closer to the guards, but they ended up being defeated by the second volley of attack.
Shane and his team didn't even have to make their move. The guards were well-trained and efficient, dispatching the Winged Zombies with ease.
At this time, it was only a matter of time to kill all of these Winged Zombies.
Lysandra even suggested to head back and continue with their sleep…
"Wait…" Shane said as he held something off. Needless to say, his Heightened Awareness was working. This Skill was from the fused Danger Sense, after all.
"Is there still a threat?" Lysandra asked cautiously.
"Yes…" Shane replied and soon looked in the direction where Cloud, his A.I. Assistant, told him.
It seemed the battle was won, but a new threat was actually coming!
From the darkness, another batch of Zombies appeared and he could tell that one of them was the Winged Leader Zombie…
Unlike the others, this zombie was smaller and more agile, its movements almost too fast to track!
'A leader that isn't larger, but actually smaller… Interesting…' Shane thought as confirmed that this Leader was accompanied by ten more Winged Zombies.
Soon, the Leader Zombie exhibited a disturbing level of intelligence, directing its minions to target the Light Orbs, torches, and bonfires that illuminated the shelter!
"Protect the lights!" Claude's voice rang out, commanding his soldiers to focus their efforts on defending the light sources.
The Winged Leader Zombie passed through the air and its claws slashed at the Light Orbs.
They were simply too fast!
One by one, the orbs began to shatter, plunging parts of the shelter back into darkness.
The soldiers struggled to keep up with the zombie's speed, their crossbow bolts missing their mark more often than not.
Shane knew he had to act quickly.
