Chapter 462 Roar Of Triumph
"A-AAAHHH!!"
Horrified screams reverberated from different parts of the Valenzia Arena.
The holographic screen was truly enormous, hence, the mundane folks and the lower-ranked visiting adventurers couldn't help but scream in utter horror upon seeing the Ember Wyvern in its full glory and hearing its majestic yet terrifying roar.
The angle of the recording made it seem like the Ember Wyvern was going to come out of the screen and wreak havoc upon the arena.
Fortunately, when the scene shifted to Shye's determined face, his heroic expression dispelled the fear that had gripped the hearts of the crowd—a realization dawning upon them.
'The young man in the holographic screen valiantly faced off against such a horrifying monstrous creature and still lived to tell the tale!'
Not only that but since Shye was here and the recording became one of the highlights of the competition's presentation day, then it could only mean one thing.
'Shye Crowley slayed this monstrosity alone!'
"F*ck…is this Crowley for real?"
"Heh, it seemed like I never had a chance in the first place."
"Sh*t! Sh*t! The gap is this huge?!"
Witnessing the horrifying yet exciting scene played on the holographic screen, Verson, Erwin, and Jamal couldn't help but voice out their frustrations in utter disbelief.
The Gryphon would've already ripped them to pieces with or without the armor sets and weapons provided by their families.
Yet, that horrifying monster wasn't even Shye Crowley's best hunt.
Even Jamal's competitive heart partly gave up after realizing the disparity between him and Shye.
If the guy was younger than him but was already this strong, then he would have no hope of ever catching up.
Meanwhile, Damien was losing his mind.
He cannot accept that someone in the region was more talented than he was.
He even received training from adamantite-ranked adventurers from the other, more prominent regions, hence, he simply couldn't believe that Shye was growing at a rate far faster than his.
The bastard didn't even have a solid background.
If this wasn't his rival being more talented than he was, then what else could it be?
Why, the system, of course!
Unfortunately, Damien would never know this, and he was bound to fall into a spiral of depression should he continue to challenge Shye as it was simply impossible for someone of his ability to defeat him.
Well, Shye never took the initiative to bully anyone, however, he also never hesitated to ruthlessly destroy those who dared oppose him.
After all, he had much grander problems to worry about, and he couldn't let himself be held back by such idiots.
…A few minutes later, the scene where the Ember Wyvern forcefully crashed onto a rocky pillar to avoid its eyes being stabbed by Shye, played, eliciting gasps of regret from the crowd.
"Ahh! He was so close! If only that attack landed!"
"I can't believe high-ranked creatures are so smart!"
"Argh! That would've been huge if he blinded that damned creature's right eye!"
Before they even realized it, everyone was already immersed in the recording.
It was as though they were there with Shye.
A few moments later, when Shye emerged from the clouds of dust brought about by the violent crash, the crowd cheered.
However, their happiness didn't last long as the next moment, they noticed the wyvern's annoying hit-and-run actions.
"W-What? Despicable! Shouldn't it fight Crowley head-on since it's a prideful Draconian-type creature?!"n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Hmpph! Perhaps this wyvern is scared of Crowley!"
Amusingly, the editor chose to skip the dull patience battle in the recording and jumped straight to the part where the Ember Wyvern, appearing slightly furious and impatient, attacked Shye.
This edit made it seem as though the wyvern was provoked into a rage by the crowd's comments.
Due to the twists and turns of the battle, the audience's feelings were on a roller coaster ride, rising in happiness the first moment while plummeting in nervousness the next.
Most of them were on the edge of their seats especially when the Ember Wyvern transitioned smoothly from defense to attack, managing to grab Shye by his waist.
"C-Crowley!!"
"You idiot! Stop yelling! Isn't the actual person right there on the stage?!"
"O-Oh, right…"
As Shye's bones cracked under the pressure of the wyvern's talons, even Damien almost celebrated in glee, forgetting the fact that it was a mere recording.
Soon after, however, the crowd was puzzled when the wyvern abruptly released Shye, as if he were something repulsive it wanted to avoid touching.
They didn't know exactly what, but they were sure that Shye did something.
Unfortunately, the audience didn't have the luxury of thinking about it as Shye climbed the wyvern's body using his greatswords, finally managing to destroy its eyes with one violent stab.
Watching the enormous draconian crash to the ground, the people were extremely pleased, cheering their hearts out at the marvelous sight.
Naturally, Damien shared no sentiments with the crowd as he wished for nothing more than Shye's demise.
The chances of such a thing happening were bleak, though, as the holographic screen showed Shye majestically standing atop the collapsed wyvern, a pair of rotten mana wings emerging on his back.
Soon after, he ascended to the skies like a dragon before descending on the dragon's skull like a cataclysm, bathing in his own flames.
His fireball spell obliterated not only the enormous creature's brain but also all chances of the wyvern surviving the attack.
"UOHHH!! CROWLEYY!!" The crowd cheered in unison.
However, before they could even recover from their overexcited hearts, another draconic roar echoed across the arena from the holographic screen.
Realizing that it was from Shye, who roared his heart out after a mind-boggling victory, the crowd cheered even louder.
At that moment, Shye truly looked like a young hero.
[Congratulations! You've earned 200,000 points!]
'Nice! Hahahahaha! I knew it! That roar in the end would do the job!'
Shye didn't show even the tiniest bit of happiness on his face, though, making it appear as though such a feat was of little importance to him, further impressing not only the crowd but also the high-ranked adventurers who came to watch.
