The Bodyguard System

Jaden was a little surprised. Who was it that John wanted him to meet? As a bodyguard, he really did not need to meet that many people. After all, his role was only to make sure that John's safety was ensured.

As for the others, he really did not care about it. Maybe it was because he currently was a mutant, and John was having an intention of introducing him to someone? If that was the case, then Jaden would obviously refuse.

He was not willing to be involved with anyone currently, especially the government when it came to the issue concerning being a mutant. That was the reason that until this day, neither he nor John had ever spoken about mutants.

Despite what he was thinking, he still followed behind John, and the two of them entered into the restaurant. As usual, the restaurant was quite busy, with most of the people that were dining here being from high social ladder.

The two of them headed straight towards a table that was by the window. At that time, Jaden could see that there were two people that were sitting there.

From the heads, he could tell that it was a male and a female. The male possessed medium length green hair, while the lady possessed medium length red hair.

As the two of them approached, it seemed that these two had detected, and looked over. But the moment that they looked over, Jaden could not help but be stunned.

His expression did not change at all, but he was surprised in his heart. The two people in front of him were actually none other than Kevin and Scarlet. Jaden knew that Kevin had been pursuing Scarlet during the time that he was her bodyguard.

It was just that Scarlet did not seem to have the intention of being in a relationship with Kevin. But now, here they were, two of them, together.

Jaden would not have been that much surprised if he had since Scarlet here in Rezi city. After all, the Johnson family was here, at least the main branch of the family.

But it was quite a surprise for him to see that she was here together with Kevin. Could it be that the person that John wanted to introduce him to was given? That was a possibility. After all, ever since the first day that he arrived in this city, he had never met with Kevin.

Of course, Jaden was not the only one that was surprised. Both Kevin and Scarlet were surprised as well, considering that they had never anticipated meeting Jaden here.

Jaden did not say anything, and followed John and took a seat opposite the two. He was sitting next to John.

John had noticed the change in expression on the faces of the two. From that, he could tell that it was true, according to the information that he had received, that Scarlet knew about Jaden.

If it was before he did any form of investigation about Jaden, he would have not known about the fact that Jaden was a bodyguard before. But things changed after he did thorough investigation.

He found that Jaden was Scarlet's bodyguard before he came to this city, and became his bodyguard. But there was a certain time frame where he was not a bodyguard, but he was never seen doing anything at all.

"What a surprise! Jaden, you actually came here? And, don't tell me that you are currently my brother's bodyguard?" Kevin enthusiastically asked as he smiled widely while looking at Jaden.

Back in Faru city, he had been trying so hard in order to recruit Jaden into the family. It was just that even though he had tried so many times, he still failed in the end. There was nothing that he could do, but reluctantly go back home.

And when he went to look for Jaden for the second time, he was still refused. And then, Jaden suddenly left the city. As for his destination, it was unknown.

Because he was trying to be sincere, he did not use the family connections in order to investigate about where Jaden had gone to. He believed that if it was faded for the two of them, then they would meet.

Jaden simply shrugged in response. Since John had already informed Kevin about him coming over, it was clear that he had already told him that he was introducing him to his bodyguard.

When he saw that Jaden was not refuting, Kevin was so excited that the smile on his face was so wide. John was also surprised by this. From the way that Kevin was talking with Jaden, it was as if the two of them were very familiar with each other.

Even in the information that he had managed to get, he did not really get much interaction between the two of them. Yes, he understood that the two of them had met before, but according to the information that he possessed, the two of them did not seem to be friends.

"Hey Kevin, you seem so familiar with Jaden. Can you tell me where the two of you met?" John voiced out his curiosity.

"Oh, the two of us met back then when Jaden was Scarlet's bodyguard. As you know, I love Scarlet, and that was the reason why I was pursuing her. It was in a mall that the two of us met, and Jaden actually impressed me.

I had got it out some investigation when he told me that he was her boyfriend. It was only after I investigated that I found out that he was her bodyguard, and his combat skills were excellent.

So, I immediately decided to recruit him into the family. It was just that he refused me each and every time. I had no other chest but to give up, and hope that I would succeed another time."

John raised his brows lately. He had not expected that the interaction between Jaden and Kevin was like that. His brother had to be praised as well. After all, even though he did not know that Jaden was a mutant, he had seemed to notice something about Jaden.

It was no wonder that he was trying to recruit Jaden into the family. And if he had actually succeeded, then, after the family found out that he was actually a mutant, then, he would have been rewarded heavily.

John could only shake his head. In his mind, he thought that perhaps Jaden was fated to have some form of interaction with his family. It was a good thing, but John understood that it also involved some kind of danger.

What had happened in the forest outside the city told him that there was supposed to be that Jaden was not actually targeting the Bloodhound mercenary group. But instead, he was being targeted by the mutants, which was the reason why he had decided to come to this city.

Being in this city, and being his bodyguard, he would have much more interaction with mercenaries, which would increase the potential of him meeting with mutants.

"Okay. Since the two of you have already met before, I don't need to introduce you to each other. Anyway, let's just have a meal and talk for a little while. Then, I will be leaving the city together with Jaden later on." John waved his hand towards a waiter who was a little distance away, as he said those words.

The moment that the waiter came over, John went ahead and made an order for several dishes. He asked each and every person what they wanted, and considering that they could all look at the menu that was provided, they all ordered what they wanted.

While the food was being prepared, silence dominated the table for quite a while before John finally begun speaking.

"So, Scarlet, can you tell me the experience that you had with Jaden as your bodyguard? Is he good?" John asked.

He was obviously not serious with the question, as he had already investigated about this. And, knowing that Jaden was a mutant, he did not need to worry that much about Jaden protecting him from the mercenaries.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

The only thing that he would have to worry about was if Jaden ended up attracting mutants over. He could deal with the mercenaries, but what about the mutants?

From the previous experience, John could tell that Jaden was an extremely strong mutant. But how strong was he? Was he capable of dealing with all the mutants that might come after him?

That was something that he could worry about, but he did not have much pressure about it. In any case, his life as a member of the special unit was always filled with danger, when dealing with the mercenaries.

To him, there was not that much difference at all. At the end of the day, danger was still danger, and all the dangers that he was facing at the potential of taking his life.

Upon hearing the question, Scarlet who had been having an indifferent expression on her face suddenly had a shift of expression. She gazed at Jaden, only to realize that Jaden did not seem to care about what she was asked.

She snorted slightly, before responding, "I can say that he was quite good." And immediately after saying those words, she focused on the phone in her hand. It was clear that she did not want to talk about this topic any longer.
